Both actually. Satella is one of the weaker demons, but still stronger than most of the strongest humans. For example, stronger than Thoma even not counting the IF.
So Caeser is damn strong. But them stone guardians are already very strong enemies, and some more powerful version like Iron guardian is even more so. And Satella guardians are even more special.

Firstly, you shouldn't really be vassaling, but it's a forgiveable mistake in your first playthrough.

One needs tons of willpower to learn it though. I've started like 10 times and never got far. I guess the only way is to actually pay for lessons and then you won't give up because otherwise your money would be thrown away for no reason.
