As time progresses, technology does aswell. What would've been a 599 console in 2013 is a 399 console in 2016. Consumers showed last gen that going above that price tag for a console is suicide. While offering a 399 upgraded console in 2016 is actually a rather smart way to keep the PS4 relevant as the tech world around consoles keep progressing with giant's leaps.

First of all: I am 80% PC player and mostly play the exclusives on consoles or titles that are well suited to a console. I bought the PS4 when the update allowed 3d movies.
But I have to say that Sony does a huge mistake with the PS4k. The second I heard about it I stopped thinking about buying another PS4 game.
The day Sony really makes the PS4k official I will sell my PS4 and I am pretty sure that it was my last console.
I didnt fucking buy a console to use it 2.5 years and then i have to buy a new one and preferably I have to buy all games anew.

They aren't willing to become loss leaders anymore. It sucks but that's how modern corporations operate. And really, even PS3 that was supposed to last 10 years and cost Sony a massive loss for each sold unit became massively outdated five years in the life cycle. Anyone that played a PS3 port on PC played a completely different game by then. You can't sell a console and hope it will last a decade. Simply not viable at all. PS4 was already outdated when it was released.

This, I agree with you. Fuck paid online. If Sony wants to go the "cheap way to play", then paid online is a fucking scam and rip-off. PC does everything better and for cheaper. I think that site actually has a boner for Gust games, they even have an interview with Akira Tsuchiya about Ar nosurge, they gave that game 5/5. Nights of Azure isn't 10/10 game, it's very confusing at first to actually understand anything what's going on with the game. The translation is also pretty sloppy, that's pretty normal for KT localized Gust games. I bet they used Acttil as always with very small budget, this is the result. The fights have been also pretty easy so far, I'm in chapter 4.
But still, I do like to play it. It has very good music as always with Gust games, and the setting seems to be getting more interesting now that they actually tell what the hell is going on. Also the interactions between different people are entertaining, the same way as always with Gust games. Though sometimes they can be cut short and you're left thinking what the fuck did I just watch. The game doesn't look too great, but at least it runs fine. The models are also great the same way Gust games have been.
It's a fucking odd game that's for sure, they could have done a little better job at explaining things at start.

When you buy a new graphics card you know that there are propably already better cards out there.
And you know that in a few weeks you could get a better card for the same price.
You know that you will get 100% of your expected gaming experience for a couple of months and after that depending on the game it will fade slowly.
Some games will after 1year still look the same on old and new cards. Some will make 90% of what you get with new card. Its a gradient and your card will slowly get worse compared to others.
With a console you expect to get 100% of the experience for maybe 6-10 years and an acceptable price.
What you get is 100% for 3 years or 1 year if you are unlucky and bought i late.
And after that ther will be a hard cut and you can choose betwenn 100% and 60%.
No slow ageing.
People WILL feel that they have to buy a new one and they will feel cheated if the normal PS4 happens to only be 1 or 2 years old.
