There's another inconsistency in Fates.
In the Jap version of Awakening, in Inigo/Severa's A support, Inigo tries to give Severa a bracelet, which she rejects. In their S support in the Jap version of Fates, Inigo gives it to her again (and she recognizes it).
In Awakening it was changed to a ring. In localized Fates he gives her a bracelet still, which she somehow recognizes. Minor error, but it seems fairly clear that they just didn't do their research.

It seems like your Saizo and my Kaze got switched. Kaze never ends up well for me. No mater how hard I try to use him, or how many people insist he is good. I have grown bitter in my many attempts to make Kaze good and he just continues to not.
To be fair with my Saizo I did make Charlotte his waifu. Right now as a level 1 Master ninja he is hitting things for 2x20 at least. I am only on chapter 19 though, and I have done a few paralogues.

You have to try REALLY hard to make a character i don't like. Even when it's a character that is made for you to hate like Hans and Iago it just doesn't do it for me because it's too obvious, but there are two characters in this game who i wish someone slapped in the face multiple times: Azura the "oh so mysterious dancer of m-muh secrets and being a bitch" and Ophelia, just because she's such a tryhard bitch about her chuuni shit. Owain is super chill about it and treats everyone well but she takes it so fucking seriously and treats a lot of people like jerks because of it.

The only thing you really need to worry about for Kaze is strength, since his growth there isn't particularly great. If you get a Kaze that isn't doubling, then the god you picked doesn't like you. His res can end up worse but it's typically good. He's just a specialized unit, so he's not very good against physical attacks.

He doubles just fine. That isn't the problem. 2x0 is still 0. That is basically all the damage he does unless it is against a mage or other paper thin class. Snake Venom does more damage then him most of the time. In the end I would much rather bring along a unit that isn't as frail as him, and get actually kill the opponent, or at least take a hit if they don't manage to kill them. That's all.

So my friend is complaining about crits in conquest. Apparently everything is really good and difficult and exciting but there is a trend of getting hit by one crit and ruining his run. Is this a serious problem? If its that bad I'm tempted to turn off permadeath because I don't want to get RNGed hard out of a run.

It's pretty lame that the only thing classes like Swordmaster and such have is the extra crit and the weapon rank bonuses since you're just gonna be using steels at most anyway.

You can say the same thing for Kaze when he gets good strength. It's not just his coin flippy Spd (and HP and Def) but the bad Res that sour me on using Saizou. He's too unreliable.
