Why are the current CPUs so under-powered compared to so many others?
Could it be that they actually have hidden abilities or are they just that weak?
I mean, we've got Rei's dimensional stuff (that Kurome even got to use in V-II) and then Kurome's own delusion powers as well. I assume that given her true form's appearance, Arfoire DoS may have at one point been a CPU with extraordinary ability (though this is just conjecture)
But our CPUs, even at their max we've seen so far seem to pale in comparison. Why?

IF has a chef hat.
Nep has very little experience, but can luck into something reasonably tasty with Nepgear's help. Hard to say with Purple Heart, audio drama CD implies that she's decent at it, but not canon etc.
Nepgear only has experience with sweets because of Neptune's preference of food. Has some knowledge about tea and most likely other beverages such as coffee.
Noire is very well-rounded in terms of culinary skills.
Uni specializes in curry apparently.
Blanc probably would have preference towards soups, stews and oven baked foods because of two things; Lowee being winter all year round and once all the preparation work is done it would require very minimal supervision until it is done. Otherwise she requires a recipe book to follow along with.
Rom and Ram have some experience in the kitchen as shown in Rebirth 2, but most likely require constant supervision to not burn down the entire house.
Vert appears to be extremely knowledgeable about tea. I'd imagine it'd be extremely difficult to cook anything with those giant gloves she constantly wears. Probably delegates cooking duties to Chika in order to maximize her gaming time but probably has reasonable experience in the kitchen despite this.
Uzume is in the same tier as Compa, but has plenty of experience improvising. Would have in depth knowledge with dealing with fish.

See, the lightning in Neptunia is peculiar, because in a way, there's no lightning. Or rather, there's no self-shadow on the characters.
Which makes it difficult to use the Neptunia models in a different engine, such as XPS, or Garry's Mod, since these have shadows.
The annoying part is that, since there's no true shadow, the model's textures are sometimes arranged to suggest there's some.
For example, Kei's legs are colored in red near her shorts.

It might have been derived from the the fact that Neptune and Blanc had the most significant interactions from HDN but the best one can get in the mainline post-HDN is their slightly odd friendship.

Well, it's not the lighting, its the shaders. Even compare the two shots you posted. The one in the Neptunia engine has a soft black outline around the character where different parts intersect. Look at Nepgear's socks for the best example. Meanwhile in XPS no such lines exist. Noire's fingers all kinda blur together because those black outlines aren't present.
It's not all that unlike the cel shading used in other games, such as Wind Waker.
