Diabolik Lovers got popular because its particular formula was novel back when it was released. Like UtaPri, Hakuoki, etc, the fans it gathered back in its peak are the ones who still buy the games today. Rejet (and other companies) have tried to replicate the same formula before in other games but it doesn't quite work out.

The initial set of vocal songs in Yumecast do have that musical vibe, especially in the arrangement of the harmonies. The ones afterwards lost it, but at least the musical theater troupe setting permeates the whole story and it isn't diluted by being set in a school. High school settings kill so much. Love points take so long to grind I forget half of what I read. I'm about half way through with most.
Iori's is making me like him more than the main story, where I kept forgetting he existed. Madoka sticking to him like glue and him gradually giving up trying to shake her off was moe.
Hinata is good for the おねショタ but he's too forward for my tastes, and despite liking おねショタ I dislike too much "why am I a kid" angst. His combination of skills and interests is a weird mix. Why does he make so many lewd clothes. Why isn't this brought up anywhere.
Sousei is too nice and I'm a sucker for the types that put others' wants and needs before their own. His scenes with Madoka at the start are painfully cute and vanilla. Slightly too much Kyouya cockblocking for my liking but it's his own fault.
Kyouya's was the first I started with and I can't remember shit.
Not that far into Subaru, Kaito or Jin yet. I want to feed Subarun spaghetti.

All the guys go up to level 60. It's around 20000 points.
I find it hard to pick an actual best boy in Yumecast. Appearance-wise I'm drawn to Jin and Kaito, but the other guys have endearing qualities too like Subaru being a huge puppy. Though, since my only URs are of Hinata and Kyouya I've made the most progress with their stories.

There is no CG for the guro scene in the trial so in my opinion it's much more similar to guro in something like Corpse Party.
