Tough decision.I did this a few years back to just "get away" and honestly I felt disgustingly afraid all the time. Stabbings and shootings were common. I've read about half of Scissorlips' and a bit of one of the other ones (can't remember the author), but it's not the same. All those fanfics read more like Katawa Shoujo novelizations. It's a different style of prose from what's used in visual novels, and while some fanfics get really close to feeling like KS, it can never be the same experience.

I've had MDD the past 8 years, had a 6 month stint in a ward, and been in therapy for the latter 5. Stopped therapy early last year and quit my meds around the same time. I still get depressed sometimes, but for the most part I'm starting to feel like a real person again.
Basically, the key is to reconcile it. Positive thinking is well and good, even essential, but it won't get you anywhere if you're still actually *fighting* depression. Accept how shitty you feel. Accept how fucking awful it is, how much you hate yourself, how void it is. You need to affirm that it's an inescapable part of you, and likely will always be. Instead of trying to battle depression, build on top of it. Eventually it will disappear in this way because it will be eclipsed by everything else.
