Here's the original image if you care. Paint.exe's object Wrap plugin won't work on the current version, so I couldn't give it a nice black outline.

Also used Arial black. Feel free to use another font if you want to.

I feel like ppsspp is a bit topheavy to be a libretro core anyway. Too many settings, etc.

It's not as bad as trying to make say, dolphin into a core, but imo it's not the best suited for it, so I could see why there's not as much interest.

Not to mention, retroarch is all about portability, and is there anything other than a desktop computer and maybe some high-end phones capable of running ppsspp?

So I've been wanting to turn my toaster into a cool arcade machine, but I've been seeing two main choices for emulators:

Fightcade
MAME

Any help? Is fightcade just another form of MAME? I can't seem to see the difference between them, other than the fact that fightcade has net play.
>>
>>135884986
fightcade is finalburnalpha, and has a limited number of games it can play (though it will probably play 90% of what you want.)

I've been trying to find out what the aspect ratio of Front Mission 3, and google has failed me hard. Anyone know how to check the native resolution of a game on say retroarch for example? I'll try anything as long as its sure-proof.

The root of the problem is our countries have become corporatocracies, and their interests have usurped the people's interests. Copyright was a deal meant to bolster the public domain with a limited monopoly. But corporations like Disney have made an absolute mockery of the concept (life plus 70 to 120 years), and will continue to extend it indefinitely so that Mickey Mouse never falls into the public domain.

Copyright was once and should become again 14 years long. And further, the cessation of official sales of a product should end said copyright. But we the people have no power to change the legal landscape. So our only option is civil disobedience. And the internet has empowered us greatly there. They can pass all the laws they want, and make the fines as great as they want. But they can't put us all in prison.

It basically will need to be hacked by someone nice and spread around to be good, because the bad things are fully intentional - namely the forced composition causing bad input delay, and the keylogger/monitoring part that reports regularly to a location that coincidentally happens to be where the United States' NSA headquarters is, which will take up bandwidth even if you don't care about genuinely amoral people having your passwords and private conversations.

AMD has driver issues with everything. At this point AMD might as well just shut down their PC GPU business and just make console APUs

>>135907893
considering you get an inherent boost in performance from the api that nvidia wont see and the dx12 performance increases that come from more direct hardware access that benefit emulators so well there should be no question.

there are already emulators out that utilize dx12 though.
>>135908649
although I can agree that forcing updates seems draconian. there really isnt a reason not to update your security loopholes. Their reasoning behind it is sound as well. they want everyone on windows to have the newest os on the most recent build to make optimizing games much less of a hassle kind of like how consoles are easy to optimize because of this. the nsa shit is infuriating but you wont be able to avoid it even with linux. theres a security program built into every build of linux that was designed by the nsa. this happened years ago. looks like out of all companies apple is the only one holding out on the nsa atm. >>
>>135910426
>sure but they wont show any performance increases.
AMD's DX12 performance gains have more to do with AMD's crappy DX11 performance than anything. Nvidia pushed the limits of DX11 by designing their architecture to exploit it, and therefore DX12 brings fewer benefits.

>>135916657
Lot of work for ??? benefits that are apparently just for already-bad graphics hardware vendors. Why wouldn't you just upgrade to 7 instead of all that?
>>
>>135916923
Lots of work is relative. The effort is for peace of mind and feeling like you aren't being sold against your will.

If you have a pfsense router https://www.pfsense.org/ or a router with custom firmware http://dd-wrt.com its pretty easy to do.

Hell I even have a VM running a thing called pi-hole just for blocking ads on the network. https://pi-hole.net/

None of it is difficult. You set it up and don't have to worry about it.

Sure you can install Windows 7 but you are still sending crap to Microsoft. Block it once on the router and ALL the computers on your network are protected.

The NSA can just force them same as Microsoft. Did you think this whole "make virus spying OS and give it away for FREE" thing was Gates' idea or something? They don't have a choice, and if they don't neither do Apple.

The only safety is open source "LMAO NO GAMES, HOPE YOU LIKE MANUALS" operating systems, simply because they can't hide anything with the source shown. Welcome to the dystopian future.

>Why?

Its obnoxious and I'd rather spend my time doing other things. If I have to remember or look up commands to install the os then its a failure on their part as far as I'm concerned because other distros wont waste my time on nonsense.

I've used linux for years and adore the hell out of it but telling anyone to use command line for things like installs and updates is insane.

I've put in my dues doing shit like looking up monitor specs to configure X just to get something to display over the years. I'm old, tired, cranky and done with that type of bs.
>>
I don't even dislike command line, it just bothers me to see software present options and functions without describing them right there when there's plenty of room to do so on the prompt/panel/window - and instead make you go through reference documents to find it. Plenty of Linux developers know about immediate-teaching design style though, so it's not really something I'd call an OS problem. SP just needs to catch up a little is all. Description text with the options would clear up all retardation-related user complaints instantly.

GLideN64 supports LLE, though. Heck, even Glide64 supports LLE now, thanks to purplemarshmallow cut-and-pasting GLideN64's LLE code into PJ64's Glide64 fork. It's very buggy--far buggier than GLideN64--but it works.

So there's really no excuse.

Also, HLE allows for some rather nifty visual enhancements. All you can do with LLE is texture mods.

I don't think you understand how N64 emulators work. LLE graphics is really not that hard to do because the bulk of the work is done on the RSP plugin. You just need to handle the RDP side of things on the video plugin. PJ64 is primarily LLE.

It looks to me as if Gonetz is working all week, and then spending a few hours of each night on the weekend debugging GLideN64. He's fixing a fair few bugs. If he can keep up this pace, he'll bring GLideN64 up to Glide64 levels of game compatibility before long. And then the only remaining problem before it can become PJ64's main video plugin is ensuring that it can run on a wider range of hardware.

The second problem is fixing GLideN64's LLE. The main problems are performance, broken depth buffer, and no fog. The foundation of GLideN64 is very good. A majority of bug fixes improve both LLE and HLE compatibility.

Purplemarshmallow and HatCat are also working on z64gl, and have made some significant improvements. But z64gl lags way behind GLideN64 in a lot of areas.

LegendofDragoon is handling that. He's just a bit procrastinating. He ummed and awwed for months about fixing the RSP recompiler for Factor 5 games, and it took purplemarshmallow to actually do something about it.

And that something was simply making the Semaphore Exit hack only apply to a few games (such as World Driver Championship) instead of everything. https://github.com/project64/project64/pull/1033

Gonetz is currently focused on fixing bugs that GLideN64 has but Glide64 doesn't. Coincidentally, Glide64 crashes Jet Force Gemini if you open the config menu while the game is running unpaused.
>>
>>135932158
>LegendofDragoon is handling that. He's just a bit procrastinating.
He can't even run it properly nor compile, based on his posts. So it's probably up to Gonetz.

>Coincidentally, Glide64 crashes Jet Force Gemini if you open the config menu while the game is running unpaused.
But at least PJ64's Glide forces it to pause. Sucks to crash a game because of opening the config..

Jabo's pauses the emulator for me. What version of Jabo's? What version of PJ64?
>>

With most plugins, this is true, but not PJ64's Glide64 or Lemmy's D3D9.

The only think X432R did that the regular Desmume didn't was higher internal resolution scaling, so models in 3D games would look better.

Then, Desmume-libretro (the version Retroarch uses) added in the scaling at some point

I don't know if the regular Desmume ever added it in, but either way, X432R isn't relevant anymore
