Play with whatever, my first rare recruits were Tashigi and Chopper so it's not essential to have great captains it just speeds things up.
That said, if you really want good captains I wouldn't stop until you pull a legend, slasher captain (Doma/Arlong) or G3 as those are the teams most people will run.

Doffy is only really useful when maxed, I dont think you will be able to max him with farming 40 stamina. You could throw gems at drops that are RNG, I know I wouldnt, because i got shitty luck with RNG.

unless you don't have the cost, absolutely. evolved doffy is tied with monster chopper for highest attack on global right now (with only legend doffy and nightmare luffy above them on JP). so unless you only use log luffy for dex raids and such, he'll consistently be one of your highest damage sources.

Fodder (navy, common guys, etc.) are only useful up until level 30. After that, only sell them or feed to anyone still under 30.
Manuals that are useless for you can be used as experience as 5 of them gives you 25000 exp, this plus baby turtles is okay to do up until about level 50. Mostly, though, you wanna save baby turtles for pigs.
After level 50, you want to mainly use Teenage turtles and pigs up until about level 80.
Anything 80+ should really only be fed with elders or pigs.

I think BB needs to be at least 25 turns.
I would advise against using Mihawk, because with only 3 STR units clearing the first few stage could be problematic. You don't need the 30% cut from whitebeard.
As you can see in the screenshot they're already nearly dead and I haven't used my second BB special. I also haven't used GPU which would allow me 4 more turns of hitting the boss.

ya, no the MC team is comfy with how buff my units are now, there is just probably less than 20 people on my friends list with MC Hoppers, and less than probably 8 over level 90.
The run itself is easy, even when I fuckup and kill the giant on stage 2, I just lack friend captains.
My doffy is already down to 24 turns, so I don't need to go as crazy on farming but I'm still probably less than half way at this point. I'm just surprised there are so many g3 up even when it's green turtle day as well.

Mihawk is ready by the time I reach Doffy and so is my friend Chopper sometimes. Rinse and repeat, I've been watching Netflix half the time and only really pay attention to the Doffy stage

Maybe, but as always it depends on what else you've got. You're probably not going to use unevolved mihawk at all, besides that one mission, unless you managed to farm enough to get a good amount of skill levels, which I doubt if you can't afford him, since his unevolved captain ability is mediocre and there's a thousand different units that give the same effect, and his stats aren't impressive either for the cost, but if you don't have any other dex units in need of xp it's not a bad idea.

Assuming you don't have a Jozu or Perona, I'd say evolve/level/skill up your Alvida and just try next time. No point in pure damage to him if you can't stay alive long enough to deal it.

She's shit as a captain, but she's a good unit to have overall. too late to say it now, but there is a way to reroll without doing the tutorial and the download all over again, there's a guide on reddit, I believe. since sugo's going on, if you choose to not reroll, now's a good time to spend the gems you get on it as everything will be new to you, but don't be afraid to spend them on box space, as that is never a bad investment. (Sugo ends in 4 hours)
