I think you're not seeing the fact that Nero's immortality is like Alucard's. If there were magical beings like that in Alucard's world, Alucard would have them inside of him. But he has people, horses and other stuff. Nero Chaos is indeed an Alucard clone. Alucard was extremely popular and groundbreaking when he came out in Japan (Castlevania even tried to copy the 'Dracula is a vampire hunter' approach from him with those painful games). Getting Jouji Nakata as Nrvnqsr's seiyuu is a nice tribute. The most iconic scene he had, the hotel scene, also seemed kind of inspired by Alucard's hotel Rio massacre.

Is Dantes better than Drake? Steel Determination is arguably better than Voyager of the Storm (but you could argue Voyager is better because it benefits the whole team) and Dantes Golden Rule is slightly better. The 3rd skills on both are really hard to decide between. Wisdom from Desperation puts enemy meter down, remove debuffs and generates 20 stars while Pioneer gives 50% NP meter and 10 stars. Its rather hard to choose the better of the two.

Start your chain with an Arts card and Dantes' Quicks will generate slightly more NP than is own Arts card, it's even truer when you're hitting an enemy that is almost dead since it will generate double the NP for each Overkill hit, and Dantes has like 4 or 5 hits on his Quick.
I usually run with Tesla/Drake/Jack so I'm used to see NP bars get filled extremely quick but Dantes doesn't seem too bad on that front for me with an IA, the jackpot is when he gets hit when he's under Golden Rule since it's 15% NP for him.
