Most of the train wreck cases I see happen because of a lack of evidence. Which leads to arguing for 2 hours before the judge gets bored and declares a verdict.
Detective as spills can help revitalise a case by introducing new thing's to consider. They should be things the defense can useto theory craft.
They can help the defense indict a witness, but they shouldn't completely confirm their guilt.

Dunno about the MBTI, but I feel I tend to overlook things or overthink one particular aspect of evidence in a trial once things start to pick up to the latter half of a trial. I've been playing AAI and AAI2 to try and find better methods at managing my thoughts.
Sometimes when I fail a case, I fail to remember that the "You failed, it's over." bantz is all a roleplaying act, and beat myself up after it's done. But overall I try to have fun making a case as hype as I can.It's kind of why I like playing transformable characters.

Copyable IC chat should be easy to do.
I've heard mixed responses for def/pro side chats because people say that they like being able to see both teams whispering to each other. I'm still on the fence but if I did decide to do it, it would be easy enough to implement. Witness chat is, however, more likely to be a thing because it's the one situation where the witnesses need to be able to communicate with each other to keep things kinda straight sometimes but also the one role where they need to keep the 'whodunnit' aspect of it under wraps amongst themselves. Still not sure how I could actually stop people from double-clienting to watch the chat on every bench and circumvent bench-specific chats if I DID put them in, though...

Working evidence is a planned thing! Current design is that the judge will be able to choose the evidence picture from a gallery of evidence images hosted on the server, give it a description for the case, and then add it to the court record that everyone in the case can see/present. The judge will also be the one that has the ability to update old evidence in the court record if needed. Evidence will probably be one of the harder things to be put into the game so I'm a little nervous about it, desu.

Two things:
1) Mirroring sprites is already planned as being a thing. Check a box to flip the sprites. You can also select any bench with any character to help compensate for the loss of .ini swapping. I plan on trying to make as many 'features' of .ini swapping as possible built into the actual client, because...
2) .inis will no longer exist, and will be replaced with .jsons that exist serverside that will enforce proper emotes/buttons/timings clientside. Adding new characters to everyone's client is should be as easy as the server operator uploading them to a folder on the server and then reconfiguring the area/courtroom to allow that character as a viable char select option.
Most things will be stored on the server (Or on Youtube for the case of music) and then cached in the client when called for, which allows for whoever's running the server to have the ability to add new characters, emotes, or buttons without having to take down the server or make gigantic content packs. Instead, people just send them the .gifs, buttons, and a couple of lines to put in the character's .json (to label the .gifs as pre/post animations and give them timing for sounds if they need it) and the server will automagically have everyone's clients cache the new characters/animations the first time somebody tries to use them.
Do keep in mind that since I plan on making this open source, if you want to make fully-functional characters and then send them to lupa or whoever's running things in a mega file, you can totally do that by just hosting your own local server to test things on. I am not planning on adding or making any new characters on my own, but I will likely create a helper program/script that will fully or partially convert old .ini files into new .json files so that the new client won't only have like 2 characters on it and most or all of the existing characters can be ported over.

Couple things: Color palette/wheel instead of a button to cycle through them.
Make a queue for IC text. Hitting enter puts your message at the back of the queue.
Mods retain the ability to redtext, and are the only people who can redtext. Redtexting will put your message at the front of the queue instead of at the back. This will help mods be able to case without interrupting everyone, while still letting them cut in during cases to do their jbobs.

Go to a really heated case where all 3 DAs, all 3 pros, and the witness are arguing. Try to say something as the judge. Watch at it takes 2 minutes for your message to go through because the DAs all respond to the bantz which makes the pros bant more which makes the DAs respond more.
Or, with a queue, you'd hit Enter and your message will be locked in for you to say "Shut the fuck up and let the judge talk"

I ended up giving both sides 5 penalties JUST to get them to shut up long enough for my message to actually send.
As for the colors, you wouldn't remove any of them, just change how they're selected. And the only functionality change is the mod-only color which becomes the only color that can interrupt users.
If you've ever been in a case with a Klavier who constantly cuts you off before a single letter in your message gets sent, you know how infuriating it can be.
With my proposed change, only redtexting would interrupt, which would only be used for moderating purposes.

What about a function for judges that temporarily clears out the queue/silences people for 10 seconds? It'd probably need a cooldown so it wouldn't be abused, but judges already have enough trouble calling order as it is.

I think the issue is that we don't have judges ending cases on penalties enough. Or at least threatening to. Hell, Judges themselves will say

When they deal them in a case. At the start of the case if a Judge makes clear they have no qualms ending a case on penalties, then I think that alone will give their word much more weight.

Part of the reason for that is how much flak Judges get for ending a case via penalties. I can understand that somewhat, like if a Defense bench and witnesses are doing fine but the Prosecution is just shitposting and then they get penalized to death, but a lot of judges are afraid of giving out actually lethal penalties.

That's another issue as well. Judges need to grow a thick skin and realize that no matter what they do people will be upset. I've seen too many judges let shit slide because "oh well people in the anonymous chatroom were mean to me before when I did that".

The sound files aren't particularly big. It's the music that's the killer and also something you don't necessarily want to be hosted directly on the server, either (since most server hosting places absolutely despise people hosting music).
The normal game sounds are pretty tiny and will be cached on your client the first time they're played. The music tracks should be streamed to you through youtube's API at whatever quality you normally get from youtube. Trying to figure out what to do with sprites was easy. Same with sounds (because your average boop, bip, or objection noise is actually really small filesize-wise). Music less-so. I'm not entirely convinced it should be a problem though, since you should cache the youtube video once it loads and it's not like people are going to be playing the entire music list in every trial. Most of the time less than 20 songs get played from what I've seen. I really don't wanna fuck over the poor canadians that have capped internet if I can avoid it, but I'm not canadian so I don't know how much bandwidth each of the various solutions would use, so it's difficult to gauge.
