Thunder Force 4 is a good starting point I'd say if you dont mind Genesis instead.

Yeah I tried making 2 of them for Game Maker practice but lost interest because I didn't have any good ideas for scoring or just interesting mechanics in general. Want to give it another shot and make a hori some time.

It's mostly the "piano" opening, but even then I can imagine the rest of the track in a Castlevania level, especially in one of the post-SotN games.
