I finally received a status update notifying me that the physical release is being prepped and should be out within a few weeks. I almost expected it to just show up at my doorstep one day without any word from them. At least they're releasing some fixes now for those who have been waiting. I'm really unimpressed with how this whole release has been handled though and have no intention of supporting GW again. I'll import the original Japanese version of the game like I should have in the first place.

Yeah, the whole way this was handled just rubs me the wrong way. The worst thing they did was withhold the fact that there would be no voice acting and claim that the full OST made up for it, while getting someone to sing the OP in English. Might as well have gone instrumental at that point, it would have sounded better.

It's hard to say without knowing how long the game is. With their cost breakdown that's like $80k just for translation and editing. The game would have to be like over 3mb even at significantly above-average industry rates. I guess it's possible if it's the game + FD, but that still sounds unusually long for an otome title. Almost all of them have rough designs of the characters as well as their profiles. Usually there are also some colored illustrations (CGs, cover arts), but I don't recall seeing any exclusive ones. All in all, those booklets are not really noteworthy.

It really depends from game to game.
I really like the Psychedelica one, it comes with quite a lot of rough designs and sketches, and is rather thick and actually filled with art (and not stuff like chibi characters or 4koma, like the Norn9 FD booklet).
But then there are also things like the Amnesia World book, which only has three illustrations (two of them are the game covers), some kinda rough standing character sprites, the chibi characters, and then more than half of the book filled with short stories (no illustrations at all).
