the truth is that, while they planned for the AI to be able to do everything the actor could do (such as throwing bolts at anomalies and selling items to traders), but in practice the AI would bug up game-breakingly and, in the end, they did tone down just about all of the A-life systems because of how game-breakingly buggy it got. That's why vanilla SoC seems very barren. Modders found all the values they could find to make the A-life work somewhat how the devs intended, though, but it does cause the game to behave wrongly and glitchy. AMK, for example, made the AI better by just re-implementing dummied-out code that GSC already implemented into the engine, but never used.

So how exactly is the Faction War mod for CoC supposed to work?
I installed it on top of AO3 and the Ticker News and unless I am missing something I don't notice anything. There isn't any faction war fighting in Swamps as clear sky. Has anyone else tested this?

I have a fun challenge walkthrough for those who are bored with the game and like a good laugh while stalking. I call it the Slav Mystic walkthrough.
Note that you must use mods that allow for spawning of objects.
GENERAL RULES:
>start a new game, set the passage of time to 'realistic' (1X)
>you may not use any weapons other than: knife, PPM, sawn-off and TOZ (all can be upgraded)
>you may not use any armour other than jacket, trenchcoat and sunrise suit (special variants like Tourist Suit are allowed; all suits can be upgraded but only the 'exploration tree' so no combat upgrades)
>you may freely use all artifacts and consumables with the exception of medkits and anti-rad (so you must heal through regen, artifacts, bandages and food).
>you may not loot bodies of any non-quest items
>you may still loot food, vodka, bandages and small stuff like that
>you may only use a basic detector
>you may not use shops
ELEMENTAL MAGIC:
>you may spawn any anomaly you wish, but to do so you must discard from your inventory a low-level artifact that spawns in said anomaly;
>2nd level artifacts allow you to spawn multiple anomalies in close proximity
>3rd level artifacts allow you to spawn an anomaly without discarding an artifact, but you must track a cooldown of 1 day until it can be used again
SUMMONING MAGIC:
>you may spawn a horde of boars, pigs, rodents or dogs once each fight, any number of mutants can be spawned and if you spawn too much you must hunt them down yourself; each time you do this discard 1 sausage/mutant from your inventory
>you may spawn a single powerful mutant (bloodsucker, chimera, poltergeist) once per fight; discard 1 tourist's delight
>you may spawn a team of up to 5 low level NPCs from your faction once per fight; discard 1 energy drink/npc
>you can conjure items worth up to 1000 RU once a day (keep the general rules in mind, spawn ammo and food but not weapons)
