There are already guns and flamethrowers and "timebombs" in the game. Bombs that spew poison.
The npc class with guns even have their own "power move".
There are also cannons in the game.
Just make a class that uses a primary pepperbox handgun dealing mediocre damage but shoots quickly that swaps out to either a longer ranged rifle with tranquilizers and stun darts or a handcannon that knocks back targets and uses large aoe explosive cannonballs or delayed explosion bombs.
Can also set traps.
Magic classes don't use Kung Fu, they use magic. If you need physical damage on gunners, include the ability to stab enemies with the rifle to cause bleed or smash em with the blunt of the handcannon to daze + knockback.
Lots of possible skills for the class that would keep the classic style.
