Are we placing bets on what is / is not in the update announcement today? I'm setting my expectations nice and low so that I don't feel yet more crushing disappointment.

The drop isn't coming today, maybe not even this month. All we know is that NCsoft are havng some kind of press conference thing today where they talk about their games. Drop 7 is supposed to be playable at that event and they'll be discussing the particulars of it; but knowing NCsoft it'll be embargo'd so we won't hear from it for days.
Blade and soul is releasing in a few days, just play that till you get bored then hopefully something would have happened with WildStar.

Bad news for all raiding fans of WildStar! Lead Group Content Designer Brad "Timetravel" Scheinert mentioned during a chat with the community, that there won't be a "Red Moon" raid in Drop #7! That means, there won't be a new raid tier until summer as well. And this is really sad, because, with the exception of Initialization Core Y-83, there was no new raid for 2 years on Nexus. But as a small good news, Timetravel also mentioned, that there might be some other nice new things in Drop #7.
