Any civilization that has access to this level of technology should be able to create large mechanized suits that mimic the actions of a human body. Actually I got the Reliant for free from skelebro. The 325a is my original kickstarter package that I CCU'd from an Aurora MR when the dog fighting module first hit. The Cutlass is a Blue that isn't even LTI. I can't remember why I bought a Mustang, I don't think THAT is LTI either. So annoyed I didn't get an Archimedes LTI token when I had he chance, maybe I can get a Dragonfly token one day.

I'm contemplating turning the SH to a Gladiator or Freelancer MIS with the CCU's I have just in case the SH gets the nerf bat. Currently no, it's an infinite labyrinth where they keep adding more and more room the more ships you have. Doubt they will change that in the game as it would basically punish you for having too many ships and force you to spread your ships across the universe, which doesn't achieve much.
I guess the only reason to choose asteroid is that asteroid looks cool? It's probably a matter of taste and maybe a bit of convenience, The other two hangars are probably planetside which I assume (not read anything to confirm this) means it's possible to just take the elevator and go to the shops. I don't know if asteroid hangars will have shops in that close proximity.

I assumed he was talking about fleet size rather than ship size but that's true. The hangars are supposed to be able to fight the Starfarer and Caterpillar so they're going to be pretty big. I believe the Idris was confirmed as being able to land on planets, but unable to fit in hangars so it'll be on a landing pad or space dock (which is in space, but for this pose "landing on a planet" means storing it somewhere safely so you can go offline without losing it).

Depends on the use. I doubt the MIS would make a good escort on its own withhout friendly fighters to run interference while it hangs back and lobs missiles. It's just too heavy to intercept and dogfight enemies going after a target unless they try to joust like idiots and get chewed up by the 4x S3s (yes they're still that good).
More visibility would be nice but won't make a big difference at this time unless CIG changes the Freelancers handling to be a little more maneuverable.

The PTU patches come relatively fast, but the main Public version usually has a couple weeks or more before they roll out a new one, giving you time to play it.
Plus it's not uncommon for the download to get fucked up, requiring a repair or full deletion. It's very shitty for people with crummy internet.
