Enemy and buffhead are recommended, the rest you will have to tryout for yourself. Mods are installed in the "Interface>Addons" folder, then managed in game. Lookout for prereq mods required for some mods to fuction like Libslash etc...

So I've spent about a week lurking the forums and watching videos, and finally I think I decided to play Witch Elf.
Did I make a wrong choice? will I be punished for playing that instead of the more popular classes like kotbs/dok etc?
If I get the jump on someone I should be able to kill anyone right?
Also I'm a bit confused, since people say if you don't pvp you'll suck once you hit X rank or whatever, because you won't have renown to buy gear, so am I supposed to do "only" pvp? don't I need gold and stuff too? and if I'm only doing pvp when am I supposed to waste my currency on pvp gear? every 10 levels or what?
Sorry for the nub questions, any help or guidance appreciated.

Only thing I can recommend is to play 1 class and stick with it. You are going to be food in t3 no matter what until you are level 32 and have at least stalker gear equipped.

Upgrade gear (from RR vendors) as soon as you can when leveling, you should have more than enough money from RvR kill quests.
If you're lacking money you can always do a few quick "Report to FAGBALLS" quests for 50-70s a pop.

WE is one of the best (if not the best, with outgoing AND incoming healdebuffs paired with silly levels of burst) primary assists in the game. You won't find much success in the assassin play style however, going without a Guard as melee is suicide outside of 1v1 ganking situations.
You will kill anyone except shield tanks if you jump them, however if someone with brains sees that you stealth you will probably have a very hard time to kill them (or more likely, get completely outclassed). A sure sign that you're dealing with such a player is if they hit you with AoE detaunt before you hit them with your opener (in general, good detaunt use is the sign of a non-braindead player).

Game has been in a shitty deathball + burst meta for the longest time. And scenarios aren't really competitive enough for certain roles like you mentioned to be even be useful.

To add on to what I said, newer players should stay far away from MDPS classes.
They are not that fun in ORvR, and require you to have both a guard and a healer to even do anything.
And if you want to get into tons of groups, roll a tank/healer, you are 90% more likely to find yourself in a outside guild group that way.

So I played Warhammer Online at release, I was a Warrior Priest; I was most interested in wrath and grace damage builds. No interest whatsoever in healing beyond an occasional offheal. During release both of this was basically impossible for WP whereas DoK could do it fine. I quit a month after launch due to being fed up with that shit.
So I'm here to ask - did they ever fix DPS WP? If not, then I'll just play a WH instead.Then I'll bitch and cry about how WH has to split stats where as WE doesn't and a bunch of other problems because the devs were biased towards destro. Fuck Mythic.

WH doesn't have to split stats anymore. Order also has fuck all good Witch Hunters in t3. Everything that is said in >>127494901 goes for WH as well, you will have slightly less damage (no Witch Brew) but instead you get the best single target debuff in the game (Exit Wound).
WP Grace (melee healer) are going to get tuned and are likely to be hilariously OP in a month or so. If you wish to play DEEEPEEE ESSS WP/DoK; kill yourself.
SW is one of the most whined about classes (MUH FESTER BAWMBZ) and are a constant source of Destro salt. They are worse than SH not because of their class, but because the DoK can group-cleanse the SW heal debuff, whereas WP cannot cleanse SH.

I never claimed they were evenly matched, everyone knows "DPS" DoK are far superior in every aspect (automatic healdebuff, 10% parry, ranged snare). However it WILL stay this way for the foreseeable future, only the melee healing of the WP is due for a tune up.
If you wish to DPS on a healer you're better off playing an AM, and no one will expect you to heal as an AM either.

As a rule of thumb, Order has few tanks and many healers. The opposite is usually true for Destro.
Order is also heavy on the RDPS, where Destro has more MDPS.

Skirmish spec is, theoretically, the mid-range moving-and-shooting spec
All of your core abilities for skirmish are castanlw while moving or instant cast, you gain 5%crit and you can auto attack while moving which is a huge benefit.
I say theoretically mid-range because you get a tactic early t3 to extend your skirmish abilities 50%, from 65ft to 98ft which is almost as far as an eagle eye in skirmish stance.
You get a kill shot usable from behind that has increased chance to crit based on target's health percentage, an incredibly optional AOE tactic for padding scenario numbers although I eschew it for single target damage.

WH works well enough solo in the lakes, in SC's it can work well against pugs solo, but if you are against a group that has gaurds/tanks and voice comms you wont accomplish anything without the same.
The reason why I advocate RDPS over MDPS for newer players. Even though MDPS can scale much better in terms of raw dps output.
But I think the best thing for a new player to play is a tank.

Why is it that order has basically zero healers and tanks in t1? Every single AM/WP you encounter won't be healing and runepriests are rare as fuck. Meanwhile destro ALWAYS has at the very least 3 healers on their team. Usually shamans and zealots.
You also never see these classes while on Order: Ironbreaker, Swordmaster, or KoTBS.
Getting sick of the front line immediately folding the instant a black orc or chosen faggot decides he wants to rush it and everyone runs away. And being the only person who focuses on those fucking shamans, god I hate shamans. Little green snotballs.
