Honestly it doesn't really matter what units you're using as long as you're not dying and your weapon is properly grinded/affixed. I use a default affix (35 attack) ideal set with an ideal rifle myself just because my saiki set only gives an extra 80 attack over it in exchange for having 200 odd hp left.

I've seen more pot A than pot B. I have pot B personally, it's nice but at the same time I keep having to change weapon in order to regen pp in many instances.
I'd honestly suggest this: get an orbit talis, get it to pot A lv3, leave it at 20 element and never actually use it as your main talis, just as a pp regen weapon.

Well none of the classes you listed actually work great with invade weapons but depending your playtime you could make some compromishes
sword/partisan are ok picks and even better if you later turn them into austere or else you can get ares/ideal for each one respectively

katana: perma gear via kazan overcharge.
rifle: never need to unload WB.
partisan/wl: no idea, don't use them.
rod: rods are nice to use with compounds, honestly no idea.
double saber: have you seen the pp regen ds already has?
td: because more hit regen+attack on a td would make it crazy good.
jet boots: to be honest this is the odd one out, I would've thought they'd pick this over dual blades for an orbit.

Is there any merit to putting in effort to raise PA customisation crafting?
I'm assuming not because sega gimped the system simply by never expanding on it. To further it, can anybody give me some pointers as to which are good and which are utter shit? I tried kazan and homing emission so far, kazan seems like a flat improvement, while HE seemed like a huge downgrade.
