Difference being there is actually a story in the first two thirds of P4. In P3 you are literally just killing monsters because you think that will help. In P4 you're actively trying to catch a murderer with many events throughout the months dedicated to that, and mentions of your task throughout social links you'll do when you're not doing those events. When rescuing people (and trying to prevent people from getting kidnapped) you actually get story as well as learning about the different characters. In P3 you fight the monster and that's it, Strega may pop up to remind you they're around, even when there's no need for them.
The events in P4 also happen without you being able to really anticipate them. You'll get the midnight channel then spend some time waiting for them to be kidnapped, then going around getting information when it happens (as tedious as the process is). In P3 you don't have any of that - you have a fucking counter going down until the actual event of the month.
Why bring up P4 and not the other games in the series? This isn't a P3 vs P4 discussion.

The Ghosts story is written as an action blockbuster in game form as opposed to the usual modern CoD being written as a thriller. Its a nice simple story of the heroic Ghosts against the evil Federation who are constantly shown as evil and the eviler Rorke, it switches between "evil federation building evil satelites" to "evil rorke trying to murder us" with them intertwining at points. It does that well but its not exactly hard to pull off a simple good vs evil action plot.
Pulling off a cosmic horror story is probably a bit more difficult than a genre that whenever it gets boring just makes things explodes.

Of course it's true. You fight the monster, Strega show up sometimes (like I said) and you may not have a party member available - most likely due to them fucking around with the irrelevant Strega.

They don't tell you when someone is going to be kidnapped though. You get the midnight channel event, then the weather forecast doesn't do shit. The only deadline the weather forecast gives you is when you need to rescue the person, which means you can actually make P4 have a better pace yourself considering you're not limited to one day.

Seriously did you even play Persona 3? Very few of the full moon events are just "kill monster, watch Strega", theres normally character development and other events mixed in, did you skip through all the dialogue?
If you think the first 2/3rds of the game was "kill shadows to make them go away" you really paid no attention, there was them trying to figure out the truth of the dark hour along the character development about how they all approached the dark hour and Strega.
If you think Strega are just there for the sake of it you may be retarded, the whole point of them is that they're foils to SEES and are secondary villains that want to take advantage of the dark hour, they don't just hang around doing thing.
The weather forecast tells you when something is going to happen, if its forecast to be rainy on an evening after the last foggy spell, you know the next story event is going to happen then.
Your issues with P3 aren't even present in the game, replay it and pay attention to the dialogue and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Strega are completely redundant. They are just like the SEES - they didn't know the truth about the Dark Hour and then they find out the truth. Difference being they are always opposed to what the SEES want.
Strega don't do shit for the story. If you took them out then the SEES would have killed the shadows and Nyx would have come anyway. Their cult of Nyx is even more irrelevant - what does it even do? Fuck all. You are told when Nyx will come before the cult is even formed, so what's the point? What did it do for the story?
Sure they're their for some character development but that's about it. The story would have still gone on without it.
The weather forecast does not have a countdown on the top of your screen telling you exactly when an event will take place, you can't even see the weather forecast past a week (or something). It gives no definite indication of when you'll go into the tv world, and only hints at when you'll have to have rescued someone.
My issues are obviously in the game, is that really your defense? I see you ignored everything else I said about P4's story and you have still to bring in another main game in the series, in fact you haven't said you've played any other game in the series.
