Actually, Bard's stats stay the same only Matilda that increases (lv 15->22->35->38->X-> dark v1-> dark v2).
Bard in game status show level 20 and he only a little bit stronger than an experienced fighter (30 more aim and 10 more avoid).
His cap may be really level 20 as he keeps going on with Matilda but is unable to become stronger.

One of the more main ones with more scenes than the usual girls, but still not that much. Daitekoku lacked routes with Tougou and specific girls. It has basically, 2 ends with the empress, 1 end with his wife, 2 ends with no specific girls as focus, and then the two true ends (which expand the story but also don't have focus on specific girls). Then there is the Retia route which is a route that focus more on Retia but not really with Tougou, as she just meet him at the very end.

The bonus for early game for beating routes and the bonus fishes really help the early game. On a second playthrought you could also give yourself a overpowered custom characters to make it easier if you wanted.
Plus if you plan ahead, you can get all those ends in 3 playthoughts, one which is really quick (Retia's Idol route).
