speaking of dumb old questions; how do i get NTR to boot under rxtools emuNAND so i can be a weeb and run my Japanese DLC with my region free Japanese but with English translation waifu facerub simulator and strategy game? I am very new to emuNAND and CFW and got my 8.1 old3ds yesterday in the mail and just finished unlinking nands, updating to 10.3.0-28 emuNAND while keeping sysNAND on 8.1, and installing Smash 4 updates and DLC cias (i have the smash 4 cart already. got smash in October last year right when 9.0 became moddable but i didnt have cubic ninja or money). it's been a whole year since Smash came out in the US and i finally ended up with the money to get a moddable 3ds. just trying to catch up with muh piracy.
Is there any reasonable way to get back to emunand/CakesFW from within Homebrew? The Homebrew is confirmed as running within emunand via hblauncher_loader.cia, but running CakesFW just resets Homebrew.
So do I update from 9.9 or what?

Is 9.2 worth upgrading to? I put CFW on my friend's 3ds however I got an ARM9 error when I tried to load Rxtools 2.6 via ctr boot manager (Followed /vg/ guide to get CFW then got the manager and read I probably had conflicting Rxtools versions causing the error but I was unable to fix it). I'll probably just use the ds profile exploit for the time being
Also is making .cia backups of physical cartridges and extracting the save on the sd card a thing? I'll do more looking into it when I get the 3ds but a yes/no would be great. Thanks

O3DSXL 4.2 with gateway and 9.9 emunand here. Ive got a 64 SD card (59gb after format and emunand) and I want to fill the whole card entirely with about 55 gba of .cia games. But due to each cia's requiring twice its size for installation, obviously I can't install everything in one go. Is it possible to get all of my games on the SD card?

you can install over network but it's a little slower

yeah theres savefiles for use with powersaves to install the kickass2.5 payload on oot3d. you have to make a backup first and grab the file that matches your 3ds version, firmware, and region for the payload and rename it to the name of the backup and swap out the files. the backup powersaves makes should be in C:/?????/powersaves/ somewhere on your computer. once the backup has been swapped for the modded savefile in the folder (make sure it's the same filename the backup was), have powersaves restore the save file only for it to restore the modded save instead of the backup. keep the backup in case you want to play OoT3D again. make sure boot.3dsx is on the root of your SD card and kickass userland brews are in /3ds/[kickassbrew]/[kickassbrew].3dsx and /3ds/[kickassbrew]/[kickassbrew].smdh
and then you're good to go. follow the rest of the instructions for OoT3dhax on gbatemp on loading the exploit from OoT3D properly and that's it. kickass save mods (Pokemon especially) and kickass shitty emulators and kickass shitty ports. kickass.
so apparently i forgot the plugins folder for NTR. derp. got the folders and files for language emulation for FEif special edition eng text translation v2.2 and BootNTR instantly worked under rxtools. lmao
simple how one thing missing messes it all up. also /feg/ was a better help than you guys. have fun in eternity waiting for 9.9.

who the fuck uses that anymore? i am not paying $80 just so i can play free games on my $99.99 8.1 old3ds when i can install free cfw on my SD card and can do more than the Gateway can do. Gateway was great when 3ds first started piracy but now with CFW it's an obsolete waste if money. hell the only reason i have cubic ninja is as a backup entrypoint when i am on the go and cant access the internet and even then i am waiting to get 9.0 update files so i can use homemenuhax on sysnand as an entrypoint to autoboot into rxtools emunand. then i will keep it for modding other's 3ds's for kickass for money probably. but really at this point the minimum for 3ds piracy is an exploitable console and an SD card and access to a computer with enough space to download around 2 gigabyte games. Gateway is trash at this point lmao

hey guy I tried to intall the smash dlc cia posted a few threads ago but I can't make it work, I used to own a Mewtwo dlc and it is the only dlc the game shows me, I tried deleting every smash dlc in data managment but it still won't work.

installing DLC wouldnt work so I just gave up and installed another region version of Smash(EU version) and used the DLC Pack 4 and had all the mii costumes, stages and character completely

there is a way to send my sav from a retail Pokmeon game (or any game ingeneral) to a digital one in emunand? the thing is that I transferred my old xl system to the emunand on my 9.2, now I want to sell the xl with someof my retail games (pokemon Y and Omega and smash included) but I do not want to lose the save files on either. nope. everything will be whiped. basically you return the factory settings to your console AND since the b& was in your NNID if you relink your old NNID and redownload previously purchased content your b& will be there to haunt you, beware because it also updates your console to the newest firmware.

And yet.... Fucking tomodachi life and Disney Magical World refuses to play! They load up, go to black, and stay there.
Their region free, everything I run is region free, I play usa games and euro games just fine. I know the cias I downloaded work because they work on my brothers US O3DS

What we should do is have some sort of wiki for each console we discuss here that is updated constantly and we can just link to that.

There are no game carts that can do it, and 8.1J does not come with the internet browser. Its a pain in the ass and GW is the only thing that has tried.

Things I do like on the N3DS better than the O3DS is mainly its battery and how easily I can take off the back to get to it if it ever needs a new one.

Enables certain system features, mainly notable for enabling downgrading. No reason not to enable it.

I stick with webman, since it's built into Rebug (you have to enable Cobra mode and then the webman plugin via the Rebug Toolbox for it to run) and can FTP and mount games from the XMB. You can also use any other available and up-to-date backup manager, which can offer more features. Multiman is the most well known, but there's also Irisman, and a few others.
Another option is to download games as .pkg and rap/edat files via psndl.net, install them, and activate them with PSN Patch or ReActPSN. You'll need to do this either way if you want to pirate PSN store content.

I have rxTools 2.6 on my OG 3DS and I installed Paper Mario and Fire Emblem from CIAs but they don't seem to work. Every other CIA has worked perfect but these ones boot and I get maybe to the main menu and then it crashes.
Do I need to download another copy? I am running 6.2 on both nands if that makes a difference (should I update my emunand?)

You can stay hopeful in the possibility of 9.9 kernel which doesn't appear to be coming any time soon, or you can go to 10.3 and get online access but risk not getting 9.9 kernel if that ever comes out.

I like the idea of Cakes. It's clean and written basically from scratch unlike most of these CFWs that steal from each other and are very buggy, however it has waaay less features than RXTools. after that you can install MSET which gives you an offline way of booting into custom firmware through the DS profile in the system settings app
