F/SN is a sixty hour novel, and the sex scenes take up less than 5% of the plot for sure. They meant so little to this story, that they can be entirely removed and it means nothing, and they were in later editions.
The entire reason they were added in the first place, is because when a visual novel company is first starting out, you have to add shit like that to get people to buy it, but then eventually they realize there's a genuine story here and they start buying into it anyway. Then after awhile you can go legitimate when you have a decent enough fanbase, and you can leave the H-scenes behind without any fuss, because people still buy it now. KEY and several other big names places started out the same, they all did H-scenes at first.
It isn't a middle finger to the fans, they were never buying it for the porn, the porn is laughable and shitty. People played this shit despite the porn.
