The problem that was always with this game is that it was advertised as platoons of tanks duking it out in battle, but what it really is is 'Camping Behind Big Rocks So You Don't Get One-Shotted From Across The Map' It's shitty, imbalanced, boring gameplay and game design. It's a shame because it had such potential.

I just watched RapidoBambino video on the IS-3 to get an idea on how that tank performs, and the first thing that struck me was how that guy can shill WG's shit with such a straight face.
Long story short, the IS-3A must feel horrible to handle for an average player, and the DPM increase can't compensate for the lack of accuracy and the long aimtime.

Perhaps it's dependent on how good a player you are. With Easy-8 you can circle around newbie-ish opponents and have fun. But stuff like that gets more difficult later on, when you face bigger tanks and better players.

I assume you don't have the top gun. The APCR on the 90mm will pen anything you see aside from autobounce armour. I will admit that like the Comet (and really all tier 7 meds), it's mediocre without at least a handful of APCR shells. The DPM is too shit to be constantly bouncing shots.

This never seems to be the case when I'm facing higher tiers.
I can get used to the reload, but the gun always seems to bounce on high tiers and absolutely everything pens me.

It has the same gun with a bit more DPM and AP (recently buffed on PC, dunno if XBOX got it) pen, but it's going to have the same issues with penning higher tier heavies with AP. Pershing is a bit slower but has pretty good turret armour, so it can tank shots when hulldown against tier 8 and some 9s.
If you don't like the T20 even with the 90mm, I'd pick a new line.

The only thing I liked about LoL was laning. So HotS is the epitome of cancer for me. I like wining duels in LoL which is probably why i like WoT so much especially heavies. There's a lot of attrition slugging as a heavy even if you overall do way less damage and die more than like a medium or TD.

If you use an example like the Maus. There should be very few tanks that can reliably pen it if well angled even with gold. Like the Maus shouldn't have to duck behind cover constantly and minimize targets shooting it. It's goal should be to be getting as much shit to shoot at it as possible.
Unfortunitely it only functions well as a tank when its a t10 bullying t8's. Every other time it just gets torn up by literally fucking everything.

That relationship only exists when there's no way for armor to compete with firepower. Which it didn't which is why the M3 Lee got fucking wrecked in WW2.
Firepower (until you outclass your enemies armor) > Armor (until you outclass your enemies firepower) > Mobility = Cost.

carry harder t34 is a fantastic tank at tier 5 and the 5cm gun is broken use that and deal mad damge every game,. Also try to focus not on what you can do to win the game but onyl focus on your performance in the game and you'll find wins come more often. Generally if you are focusing on yourself and ignore others you will more than pull your weight and thus the team only has to break even to win making a win more likely.

There's definitely bad tanks and good tanks. But if you're good at brawling and you know how to handle yourself in a heavy, and that's 90% of what you do sticking yourself in an OP medium or something like a Hellcat isn't going to work as well.
I'm terrible at using camo/terrain as protection to take potshots with fast/big gun tanks. However if I get stuck in a brawl with 4 of my other heavy bro's I find it pretty easy to naturally work with others to win brawls a lot and that leads to high tank win rates as well.
