So I've been wanting to playCV.
Playing as IJN is hell. The torpedo spread is so wide that I usually score only one or sometimes two hits. My fighters are shit, so I'm either baiting fights over friendly AA (which good opponents will avoid) or getting zoned into not sending my planes out, because they will get torn up and I'll be out of planes.
Should I be going USN for better fighters or stick it out with the IJN?

The only real experience I have on the test server with post Minekaze DDs are Fubuki and Shimakaze, and I have to say, Benson and Gearing shit all over them in terms of Guns, but their torping potential is almost exactly the same when played correctly. Mind you, I do have something like 150 battles total in these DDs, so I hope it isn't statistically irrelevant anecdotal evidence.
I guess if you just want to be le invisible torpboogey, go for it, but the second you're spotted, say your prayers.

The armour performs the same as any other cruiser against BB - you will be penetrated regardless, against other cruisers, IJN/KM armour will deflect AP just as well.
The guns combine poor firing arcs with slow travel times to create a hard to use and unrewarding experience in their use. Particularly the SHS of Baltimore and Des Moines.
Lack of torpedoes is a gigantic disadvantage compared to other nation's cruisers, and is not made up for in any other aspect of the ship's performance.
Detectability, average in all respects.
Maneuverability, average again.
USN cruisers don't have a purpose, IJN/KM cruisers perform better almost universally in tiers 7-10.
Think about it like this. A USN cruiser can shoot stuff, with its lackluster guns, and can AA escort.
An IJN/KM cruiser can shoot stuff BETTER, can AA escort with almost identical performance to a USN cruiser, and can also torpedo larger ships (or smaller) as the ultimate equalizer.
I keep getting anally aggravated by USN carriers as IJN. Their fighters tear me apart and there is little I can do besides keeping all my planes over friendly ships or diving and losing all of my reserves.
Should I switch to USN or does this suffering ever end? I'm at Zuiho right now.
