The 3* breaks are Combat abilities, not support. Honestly though, Breaks are more than enough for all current content (though obviously Breakdowns are preferable) so there's no hurry to upgrade. I stand corrected on the break requirements, but breakdowns are key if you want to do any + and ++ content right now and as we keep getting new events the lower difficulty events will start getting tougher so getting breakdowns will be mandatory.
Materials for crafting these abilities will also become more accessible as we go on so it balances out.

As for armour, it depends a lot on the piece, job, etc.
For RDM when reforged my relic boots and hat are EXCELLENT enfeebling pieces because they have both skill and magic accuracy.
For a lot of melee stuff if you get alluvion skirmish gear then augment a bunch of ACC/etc on it it will be more useful.
Also keep in mind that in most cases it's cheaper to simply upgrade the armour to +2 with forgotten items then reforge, but head and body upgrade items are often a lot more expensive so it might be worth using currency to upgrade. Check FFXIAH to see what they're going for on your server and do the maths.

Stop talking out of your ass: Breaks have been perfectly fine for every bonus battle so far. Shellga/Protectga + a SG/Stoneskin RW and the difference between a Breakdown and Break is noticeable, but not huge. The reason I rarely use supports is that having another fighter with Breaks tends to end the fight much quicker because supports tend to put out a lot less damage, and killing the boss earlier often makes up the difference in mitigation between using Breaks and Breakdowns. I've been playing Japanese RK for just over a month now and just cleared my first +++ battle yesterday. The thing that made it tough wasn't that the boss's damage output wasn't manageable but that my hones simply aren't good enough to kill the boss before I run out of ability uses. Odin (the +++ boss for the current event) was hitting me for like 700 with Zantetsuken after Protectga + a SG RW and Power Break: the difference power Breakdown would have made over Power Break there is negligible.
Which RoR banners are you pulling? I need a wall sb, so I'm trying for 1 or 2. I'll probably go for 1 because I prefer mages, but I suspect cloud+ tyro is the optimal choice.

When you don't have access to Wall plus other mitigation like LH/Boon a Breakdown will save your party. Yes you can use RW to fill in the gaps for something you don't have but starting out with limited mithril, you won't be able to pull for these mitigation relics that often.

A new player is already guaranteed to die to any bonus battle without a wall RW assuming it has aoe attacks and it's not a boss you can cheese with Sleep or Draw Fire + Retaliate. You need a lot more than just Breakdowns to fight bonus battles without mitigation from a RW and seeing as pretty much every ++ and +++ fight has break resistance these days, the mitigation from a Breakdown isn't that much. I'm not saying they aren't good, but people vastly overvalue Breakdowns while selling Breaks way too short.

I have a summoner with Valefor + one of the 3* summons and Summoning Spring II, a white mage with Concentration II, a black mage with Meteor + Ruinga and Mana Spring II and two meat shields with Drain Strike to soak up damage. Yes, I agree a new player will die without enough mitigation. The most realistic combination of mitigation a new player can get is RW with Walls since you can search for those codes online and add them plus Magic/Power Breakdown. It is the most realistic option that a new player has in attempting more difficult battles because there is no guarantee he will pull a mitigation relic from his pulls. Not to mention these things will be really required in Misfortune/Ultimate fights if he ever plays that far.

I happened to see Lightning in popular new releases, so I decided to get it (partly because I got baited by the 10% discount). Didn't know that it was the third part of a trilogy. As for the other FFs, I discovered them just recently. I'll probably grab VI, VII and VIII as well at Christmas when they're on sale. I'm not in the mood of paying full price for so many FFs, especially when they're about to go on sale.

FFX has crazy-clean gameplay, though, and still has plenty of exploration involved with some minigames and puzzles worked in. Like I said, it's a STARTER game.

XIII-2 just felt so damn short. I still haven't actually beaten it but I started playing it little by little a while ago and I feel like I've barely got where I want to be with the whole monster system and developing serah/noel but I looked ahead a bit in a guide and I'm like 2 bosses away from the final boss. FFXIII borrowed a lot from X, but also from VII. I think the main problem with XIII was the SE executives tried too hard to make something that would recreate the two most successful FFs before it. SE wanted "Nova Fabula Crystalis" to become a whole franchise unto itself, and FFXIII needed to be the thing that kicked that off. I don't know much about what went on behind the scenes with the game, but it feels like a game created by a committee.

Abyssea, pretty limited importance. Some jobs get good items from upgraded job specific armour there.
Seekers, as you get close the level cap and hit it, extremely important. A lot of the endgame from it is still relevant, especially as it comes to getting your foot in the door.
I'd recommend if you end up sticking around to level ~90 or so then buying the seekers complete collection and adding it to your account.

So in FFRK is it worth to level up Tyro? he's sitting at 33 for me, can equip anything and everything, but he doesn't have any relics.
I been using a straight swordsman team consisting of
Ashe with her relic and MC
Tidus with his relic but no MC
Stiener with his relic and MC
Gilgamesh with his relic and MC
Cloud with his relic (hardedge) and only his first MC.
Tidus is usually replaced by Vivi if it's a very magic needed boss fight.
