It's pretty good so far, I don't mind that it's a reduced version, but the controls are pretty well managed and there's little tweaks and balances to suit the handheld play.
Things like focusing on an enemy will fix the way you face, even when swinging a sword and walking backwards.
You start with a copper broadsword instead of a shortsword, and it has auto-swing.
It runs surprisingly well on a New 3DS and looks just fine, you have a surprisingly good field of view even without panning the camera.
Building mode works well too, and it's still possible to temporarily select an item in inventory and use it.
Playing on the New 3DS makes it possible to play COMPLETELY button based.
The lack of a buff hotkey is a downer though.
Things in general seem to be a little faster, you walk a bit faster, you chop down trees a bit faster.
Dedicated sessions I would still do multiplayer sessions with friends on my PC, it's the fucking definitive version.
But I can see myself enjoying this in bursts on the go.

There was a huge modding community in the times of tConfig. Then they fucked tConfig, and started developing a new modding engine or interface or whatever, and the most popular modders got hired to work on the actual game, and those who didn't got butthurt, so everything just fizzled out.
