No. Merc unlocking system is very similar to LoL's champion unlocks.
There are also loadout cards with different rarity, but those aren't going to make you less shit at the game, and everything above bronze is purely cosmetic

I've been thinking about this, lately. It should definitely deal some damage the closer you are to it, same way that a stun/concussion grenade physically hurts someone in real life. Something like 20HP at most. Gotta soften up those mercs so that your team can kill because you're sure as fuck not going to make it to them in time.

I mean Fletcher is my go to engineer but it's not like I main him or anything. I'm not some forum shitter who tries to get his main buffed and talks about how every other merc is op. I'm an honest member of the community who believes that a balanced game is a better game.
I'd rather see mercs like Proxy and Phantom made less shit than see fletcher get nerfed right now. I'd rather see fragger get taken down a peg, I play fragger a fair amount and I agree he's disgustingly godlike. I'd rather see sparks not be a straight upgrade on Vasaline, and I play sparks way more than I play Vasaline.
I just don't feel like Fletcher needs to be the priority nerf target when other dumber shit exists in this game.

Really bad hipfire. Arty will probably be one you like a lot. Stark/BR Arty is a lot of fun. If you choose Stoker then Arty, you basically have your long range/outdoor and your indoor combat mercs that never run out of ammo. I usually have both in my squad.
If you really want to change up your playstyle, I'd go Phantom, but PDP is really fun, esp on Redeye.

Considering Stopwatch has a universal timer, you can go into a match on any map and time it yourself how long it takes you to travel from spawn to a certain point
Pick an average speed merc when you do and you'll get an idea of when to do it but usually you have about a 4-5 second window for funnels such as the gate leading into 2nd obj trainyard, or the wall on the end of chapel etc

Yeah, S81 is definitely the better card on Kira now than B41. Drilled + Mechanic is so much more useful than Explodey that doesn't work. Heck, it might be still be better even when Explodey gets fixed. Untrackable is far more useful than Bomb Squad since free rotation Bushwankers
On top of that, the old burst RPM of the Stark was kept while the 800 RPM of the BR-16 still annoys me. And it doesn't sound like a toy either
Don't know if the recommended loadout guy is here or if the picture is up to date but here are my 2 cents.
For arty, I think the S82 is the best loadout with the stark. Mechanic and Extra Supplies are way better than tough and Focus.
For Phantom, you don't have to use the Katana. Big Boss > Raiden. The C51 with KeK 10, double time, sneaky and Enigma is really good. But I guess it's just a matter of taste.
The thing is you should wait for the release IMHO, SD are retarded and the nerfs/buffs are sometimes extreme.
Thunder with Stark and Explodydendron is quite good for example, but they'll hopefully buff his LMG.

After tinkering with the settings disabling all texture streaming and enabling framesmoothing I am getting a much more playable experience.
Turns out that textures have to be scaled down by the CPU if you don't use their full size, using more CPU time.
So if you have plenty of video memory while not the best CPU I suggest you do that as well.

Sawbonez is a more typical medic. You have more health, and you can spam medpacks. Compare that to Aura which is only effective if you know where to place the station and remember to pick it up and move it instead of waiting 30 sec to put it down again.

Right, so the solution is to leave and pray for a server where it isn't happening.

Stoker is much more versatile and easier to use. Rhino has his uses and is fun, but you're targeted way more than anyone else because of how strong Rhino can be. If you already have a couple of firesupport mercs that you like then I'd pick Rhino since no other merc plays like him. Otherwise I'd go Stoker since he's good in basically any situation on any map.

Same way except with "switch to melee" and "press fire" binds, you can find them in ShooterInput.ini, I don't have it open right now but I think it's just WeaponSlotOne (or two or three) and Fire.
The problem with this is that you can only do the switch to melee and fire, you still have to switch back manually. When you queue three commands in one bind it doesn't work that well because of the time needed to perform the melee animation.
I think it could actually work if DB had a "last used weapon" command but it doesn't seem to.
