So I've been pugging in PvP and getting pissed off, as is customnary .
Been trying to play Rev. How do you deal with Condi and Stun with a rev. I've tried playing the Mallyx build, but there are still a few classes that just fuck my shit up. Mainly Reapers, eles, and engineers. If I'm fighting two of those it just seems like I can' do shit during the fight.

If you do make a team at this point, there's no reason to take anything but Reapers / Dragonhunters and maybe a Scrapper & Diamond Skin Tempest. Warriors are useless, Thieves are useless, Mesmer are one-trick pony pubstomp gimmicks and Druids already got nerfed too hard to even be relevant anymore.

This isn't GW1, the skills are way too different, the mechanics are way too different. Health pools and outgoing damage are both just numbers that could easily be aligned without excessive differences for no reason other than flavor. You speak as if setting hp pools straight would happen in a vacuum. Gw2 player at its finest can't imagine anything except mutually exclusive events. Oh yeah, and if every class had only 8 skill slots each with actual opportuniy cost, there wouldn't have probably been a need to fuck over all those particle effects because each player wouldn't be shitting out ten offensive actions within 2 seconds thus clouding the screen with ESPORTS.

It would take a reworking of all those mechanics to make it a good idea for guardians and eles to have so much health when they're typically given so little due to their much higher amount of active damage mitigation (or outright prevention) compared to warriors or necromancers whose means of damage mitigation tends to be short duration, long CD invulns or just having a second health bar to take blows on the chin with for a bit longer. If everyone had the same health those classes would either be unkillable because they get those invulns or secondary health bars or easy kills because everyone else gets to be much less comparatively fragile while covering themselves in defenses, regenerating the health or simply not allowing themselves to be hit.

I was originally going to suggest the easy answer of arah, or maybe ascended since if you dye it right it can kinda look like ribs, but both of them have some pretty pronounced gorgets. You know, I do like the new map. The only issue is that I'm the only one in my guild who thinks so. Everyone else finds them such a chore that they only go to the borderlands as a last resort now. Which means that when we do wub (which we do pretty often, even on our little dead sad oven server), it's nothing but EB, EB, EB.
Thought I'd play wvw more for the proofs of heroics, but those things ended up useless because it's actually really easy to deal with HP in maguuma. And of course there are still issues with defense/escorts not being lucrative to do compared to zerging and flipping, especially now that you don't have to invest a damn thing into the objectives.

Not really contributing directly to your discussion about GW2 balance specifically, but you raise a good point. Most MMOs deem it necessary that an ability be used every global, that a player should be constantly mashing at least one key. I liked about GW1 that there were periods of combat in which you were simply auto-attacking, because your offensive moves were on recharge and there was no point using a heal or defensive skill for the sake of it, you don't use an interrupt unless the target is casting something good, you don't want to waste 25 energy of exhaustion using meteor shower on one small pack of weak enemies, etc. I loved having only 8 skills and having downtime in fights, I don't understand the mindset most devs hold that a fight must be 5 minutes of constantly mashing keys and a UI full of every fucking spell a class has access to. Sometimes, less is more.

Guild armor, the set that you can buy that chestpiece of, cannot actually be obtained in game anymore- used to be that it was given to you when you entered the PvP lobby, but when wardrobe and PvP changes came around that stopped happening and they never added in any of the armor pieces again.
The new Jungle Guild Armor requires you to be in at least a level 28 guild with Guild Armorer 2 unlocked. Which is a bit daunting, but you could always ask around for a guild that has it unlocked, and if you can join for the sake of purchasing it.

Dragonhunter is good, although you need to play around your traps and swap to Greatsword as needed. There will be matchups where you will need to melee or ranged. It will seem easy at first, because Dragonhunters absolutely murder trash players, but it will get harder as people don't randomly walk or let you knock/pull them into your traps later on.
Scrapper is like a bruiser version of Engi, and you still have some ranged options with Elixir Gun, Mortar Kit, etc.
Chronomancer typically still uses GS or Staff, but you'll move in and out as needed.

Good basic player attack ability design is the reason why quake is still has a respected competitive scene, but gw2's combat is the subject of intense balance contention at best and a total joke at worst. Gw1 had acceptable AAs. Gw2 does not. It actually was OK in gw1 because using an AA was either always suboptimal or done in concert with activated abilities that often could be removed or preemptively interrupted. Gw2 AAs give too much away without consequence.
