That's why you start by buying cheap, easy to build shit like treads, drums and sange to constantly build up your hp. When you get to s&y and enough levels to use your images properly, you don't even have to put yourself at risk because you can send your dudes to split push or scout while farming. You can do stuff like constantly sending more images down a lane while hanging back and killing neutrals, the maxed images do so much damage that they consistently get lasthits just by attack-moving them down a lane if you're too lazy to micro. You aren't useless in early teamfights either, reflection is strong as fuck and the metamorphosis damage boost wrecks shit because you bought a bunch of cheap attack speed.
