In Bae ending we see Doe(s) also birds. They are all free.
If the doe's Rachel's spirit animal (we saw the doe on her grave and in Episode 4 so it's her and also Max's spirit animal very likely) she guiding us to save Chloe. But again they couldn't overcome the Spirit animal thing just like Rachel's and Prescotts's story.

A bad episode can be excused but it should never be the finale or have such a negative impact on the story. Not receiving an award would be for Dontnod's own good.
