Because he's such shit that you tend to get farther with gimmicks against most people. They then hit the skill wall against the remaining players, and they hit it about 10x harder than anybody else. Then they start to realize that not only have they been playing a game they have amassed no skills at, but their character isn't a good choice for fixing that problem.

I discovered some tech vs akuma. If I do a meaty s mk it pushes me so far bar MP / HP dp only hits me once and lets me punish. lp and ex dp still works, but it's still pretty useful.

honestly im not sure i like the fact that capcom are already hinting that sf5 is gonna end up with an sf4 sized cast after several seasons of DLC
part of the reason usf4 feels so rough is that the characters made 7 years ago for vanilla were made with completely different core game mechanics and balance in mind by a team of completely different people than the ones that were made for ultra, it makes the game feel like a sketchy patchwork

The main complaints against KoF12 were no single player content, lack of characters, no Mai and Iori had a new kit.
The lack of characters is the only real complaint against it but that's only really because KoF is know for large rosters.

-GETTING THE GAME

-SETTING UP ONLINE
1) Download latest version of caster from https://mega.nz/#F!ccRylLbZ!-E9AZDSd_pm6PgVQ35z6QA
2) extract
3) put everything in melty blood forlder
4) cccaster.v3.0.exe is now the only .exe you need to use, launch it and set buttons/set nickname
-HOSTING AND JOINING
1) Select the first option in the caster ("netplay")
2) If you just write a port number you will host on that port number - give the IP you get to someone to have them connect!
3) If you want to join, just take the IP:port you are given and paste it in the netplay option
4) You can use any port to host, but it should be open in your router. No need to open any ports if you just join the game instead of hosting.
-SELECTING ROLLBACK/DELAY
1) Upon connection the game will give you "initial delay" and you will be prompted to choose rollback/delay options
2) Just put 4 rollback always and start from 0 delay. Add 1 delay for every "initial delay" point over 3. Examples:
4 initial delay > 4r 1d
2 id > 4r 0d
6 id > 4r 3d
3) This is only an indication, if it feels too "teleporty" you can add delay ingame by pressing crtl+x where x is the number of delay you want to reach (crtl+3 > changed whatever setting it was to 3 delay)

C-Roa is top but he's hard as hell and I wouldn't suggest him at all to a beginner, H and F are still good enough and they're much easier.
C-Warakia is not a bad choice either.
C/F-Nero are great but Neor is a peculiar character and I'm not sure he would be a good choice for a beginner.
All Nanaya versions and F-Tohno aren't bad choices either.

H-Roa is a pressure character, his 214s are completely air unblockable and are great fo frametraps and corner pressure. With him you should learn how to reverse beat pressure for sure, that's a big part of the character. As you saw, j.B is amazing in the air so use it a lot.

Your combos are also shitty if you start with jab on SF4. The worse comes next. With your most efficient defensive maneuver being a backdash with 6 to 8 frames of invulnerability and 16 to 30f of recovery, you don't have much to do except take it.
In SF5, jabs are less oppressive, although they will win most trades because all of them are 3f startup. However, they have more pushback, meaning you can't lock someone enough for a hitconfirm, and characters that could be harsh to deal with had their low chains removed (Karin's 2LK to 2LP lead to a safejump on every dp in the game). Jabs have good hitboxes and are very fast, it's unlikely you're going to punish them, they were the definition of low risk high reward.

When someone is doing a combo on you but it's not a real combo you can tech. In some games you have to hold a direction and mash buttons because every input only counts on that frame. In others you can just hold a direction and a button and you will tech on the first possible frame.

Like, an analogy would be a fighting game with a block button where if you press the block button after being hit then it takes away some of your opponent's frame advantage. Holding block wouldn't accomplish anything, just pressing.
