GWoP are great. Spellwarp Automatons are good against casters, they have some absurd magic resist, like 70% reduced damage taken from breaths and spells or something.

What stopped you from checking out the vault in Puppy Cave? Afraid of the cavernous level? If you do check out the vault, run the hell out of there if it's mixed, mixed vaults in Puppy Cave are 80% deadly.
Other than that just go to Caverns of Chaos, the main dungeon, and down to dwarves. If you happen to find R1, you can do that too. Not sure about R2 on level 10. What's your race/class by the way?

Did you generate Small Cave at level 1? Then you might try running through it without killing anything. If you didn't, don't even think of going there now without magic mapping and controlled teleportation.
Puppy Cave's vault can be anything. Jellies and mixed are a no-go, but it might be something easier like orcs or gnolls+hyenas as well. You should check it and just run if you see something dangerous there.

Yes, killing Oracle and eating her corpse, gives +Le and +Ma, don't remember how much. She casts death rays, so don't stand in straight line. Also eating her curses and dooms, so you need to remove this ASAP.

Every 5 points of Le gives one more skill advancement per level and Ma influences luck rolls. Once you have enough piety to just take off curse and doom (and enough escape options or power to survive the trip from HMV to the nearest altar), you should eat her unless you don't like free stats. Do the first dwarven quest, the guy will identify all your stuff if you already have Literacy. You usually don't need identification before that (priest in dwarf town will tell you about your healing potions if you chat with him and you have any). After that it's reading blessed scrolls of identify from time to time. Read on wiki how to bless your stuff if you don't already know.
