There's lots of bullshit like faces, music and shields that you don't need or can pirate, even with a purchased copy of the game.
CK2 wise all the big DLC (Sons of Abraham, Old Gods etc) is good, although I have not played Horselords.
Another exception is Sunset Invasion, it's not historical, rather silly and not too fun since at some point Aztec ships come and invade your Europe.
I don't know how much money you want to spend, so maybe it would be wise to purchase one game with DLC and the other one later on, maybe around Christmas, instead of buying two more or less crippled games without DLC
