DLC areas were designed around not being able to cheese every encounter from range, this had the sideffect of also making magic far weaker, you will need things like Wrath of the Gods with herbs to restore casts stacked up to clear rooms of enemies wanting to bumrush you.
so, dsg, i did a poopy. i was doing an all weaps/spells/items run and after unlocking anor londo for the third time, i noticed some hings. i had no sword+10 for the cursed sword. now, this normally wouldn’t be a problem at all. but being the retard i am, i had forgot killing andre before killing gwyn 2 times. so i figured i’d just kill him right away to be done with it. so with sorrow i downgraded my abyss greatsword to make do. in the un-ascend menu, i also noticed i had 2 dorkmoon catalysts. again, not a problem, pounding the boipucci is always fun. the problem was my highest upgraded bow was a +3 composite for some fucking reason. fuck, i have to kill gwyn again. and probably artorias too. last time i barely managed to beat him, after discovering the real pyro cheese (pw+dusk+bellowing tempest gc and/or great fireballs) and with the help of solaire. i know gwyn is parry fodder for the mlgs here, but for some fucking reason the fucko denies to use his sword if im in range for parry. just grabs and occasional kicks. oh, did i mention that i also hadn’t killed solaire on ng? so, i figured since i didn’t have to go to ng+3, i would just kill him too. and i did, at the burg. i think going hollow...

You CAN do the DLCs with spells only, its just that they are way better designed than the base game in the sense that you can't cheese every single last encounter by just running outside the agro boxes, also a lot of the harder areas have semi-secret things about them that exist to make them easier (exploding barrle guys killing headless lava spewing smelter armor and rising pillars doing 600 damage + knockback on a lot of rooms with enemies, holes to kite ghost into, killing enemies that want to ambush you ahead of time)

It could be done right if From wasn't so bad about fracturing the playerbase.
First off, bring back uncracked Orbs.
Now make it so that invaders of all sorts don't need to choose where to invade. This gives more consistent results, even if it does remove selecting your favorite spots.
Now combine Blue Wusses and Sentinels, and make it so the ganksquad assist doesn't require you to waste a ring slot.
And hopefully there will still be enough Reds invading to get squads on both sides.
On the same subject, combine all the arenas so that arena PvP is universal and grants you whichever reward you're supposed to get for your covenant.

Currently at 104 hours logged on myfirstplaythrough. SL 75. After beating Farley and Spade, I decided to work on completionist shit. Farming and upgrading weapons, covenant grinding, and buying up every sorcery, pyromancy, and miracle I can find. Just joined the Sunbros. I'll probably become a Dickwraith, and subsequently repent for my misdeeds and worship The Amazing Chest, in my next playthrough to polish off the Covenants and Miracles trophies.
