I was having no problems accessing the eshop before, but now even opening eshop via the homebrew launcher locks me out with the update error. Is there really no way to access the eshop without updating?

Why would it not happen? Being dependent on something you have to have access from nintendo is not very safe. Installing an autobooter will save you time and you can launch directly into your emunand. Also if you have an autobooter you don't have to go into your system nand and that will eliminate the risk of accidentally updating. If I were you I wouldn't take that chance and just install an autobooter.

All you need is access into the homebrew menu. Browserhax is the easiest and that is what I did.
GBAtemp has guides that show you how to do this. It is not really hard but if you are a dumbass you might have trouble with it.

I'm not the one posting the fearmongering, but coldboot is better. Personally I haven't heard anything about nintendo blocking web access, unless it's with the browser. You should have update servers blocked anyway. Coldboot blocks the chance of ever updating your sysnand anyway.

Applying a custom header takes like 2 seconds though. While installing a .CIA seems to take like half an hour just to slowly transfer it over the network, then another while for it to actually install. Might be easier if I could get the network installation to work properly but every time I've tried it's disconnected partway throuhg and had to start over

I think buying a unique header for every game is pretty paranoid, considering even the public header people haven't been banned yet. Also it would be difficult for them to detect since you could only ever connect with one of those games at once, and at that point you'd probably be fucked anyway since your headers don't match with the actual game you're installing

Also you act like someone who owns a 3DS doesn't own at least one game. Getting a private header is NOT a problem.
Let alone the fact CIAs are a real shit format. They can be wiped from your system fairly easily and take the save data with them, which you can only extract with another seperate program.
.3dz are a simple format and you can plug n play, have infinite saves which can be backed up by dragging and dropping as well since they're external .sav files on the SD.

Well I've been using the 3DS's built in network transfer feature, I can't imagine that some FTP app would be THAT much faster.
Anyway network install would be the fastest of all if I didn't have to worry about disconnects, because it only has to transfer it once. If I transferred over FTP I'd still have to wait for the .CIA to install, network install does it all in one operation.

Have yo been living under a rock? Many people on gbatemp have been banned because of this. It is only a 15 day ban for first offense, but the second time they catch you it's a permaban.
The following methods are confirmed 100% to get you banned.
Using a mismatched header from another game
Using No header
Using a widely used, public header.
And like I said, you don't have to buy the game to get a unique header, you can still install a cia, which generates a unique header once installed. Which is why nintendo can't tell the difference between a pirated .cia and a genuine game.
So you can get private headers for free all you want with this method, but like I've said in the previous thread it is a tedious process and at that point you would've spent less time just installing the cia than trying to get a header for it.

All you need is your ticket.db. If there's a homebrew you can run that dumps your ticket.db, you can get FunkyCIA and download it.

This is not some plug and play shit, either way you look at it, I'm having to take a vanila sd card from another system, setup cfw on it after backing it up, backup my emunand sdcard so I can switch back later and not have my nand folders get all fucked up, because I don't feel like reinstalling all my fucking games again.
There is no way to do this without backing up the 30gb game card, formatting emunand, then injecting my emunand from my primary card into it.

Well no, there is no way to brick your system by doing the mset downgrade exploit what WILL happen though if you system format on the 2ds while on the 4.x downgraded mset is you will get stuck on system setup because you'll need to enable 3d to continue, which you don't have.
I recommend you upgrade to rxtools 3.0, it is supposed to be for version 9.0-9.2 only, but it works fine on my 6.0 2ds, only issue I have are these three black icons that show up on the home screen of the sysnand while in RX mode, but if you update your emunand to 9.0 or higher, they disappear from your emunand and everything works just peachy, including the 6.X mset.

No? You've never had to do that. Just get a CIA manager on your sysnand and boot CFW on sysnand. There'll be an option for it in your CFW launcher.

It is. When you run GBA or DSi software, the standard 3DS firmware is replaced with a special GBA or DSi compatibility mode. That unloads the CFW from memory.

Okay I installed ctrbootmanager.
But my version of rxtools 2.6 didn't have a code.bin file that CTRBM needed for rxtools.
So I got a nightly build:
rxTools_2015-11-10_08.10-720b5e2
And put the lang, sys & theme files in the rxtools folder on the root my SD card.
Now when I boot rxtools in CTRBM I get taken to a Installation failed screen from rxtools with pasta, then it takes me to my emuNAND after I press any key.
So I'm guessing I was successful in getting this working. Or should I worry about that installation failed screen?

So I put some cheat plugins for NTR on my SD Card, and tried to open up the NTR CFW menu. Problem is, the menu simply doesn't show up, at all for games that have plugins. Any game that doesn't have any plugins has the menu load just fine (Like Mario Kart 7.) While a game that does have a cheat plugin (Like Sm4sh) simply do nothing when using both hotkeys. I have an O3DS at 9.8 with oothax. I already downloaded the starter pack, is there something on it that would allow me to play a game that needs a higher FW? Triforce Heroes comes with 9.9 and I was trying to get this console it to play with Download Play but as it was under 9.9 it asked me to update, and that's when I turned to KICKASSing it.

So I had a O3DS at 8.1 with a NAND backup, but it got updated to 9.8 accidentally. I finally decided to hardware mod my 3DS to downgrade it to 8.1. Then I downgraded to 4.5, but apparently, there's no reason to downgrade to 4.5 anymore. So I used sysupdater to update to 9.2, and set up rxTools 2.6. Set up emuNAND, unlinked NANDs, and updated my emuNAND to 10.3.
Now, I want to have an offline boot into emuNAND directly. So I'm guessing that I could either downgrade MSET to 4.x or use themehax. After that, is there anything else left to do?
