I don't think an alliance side guild has a chance, too much bad blood on that side(i.e. players leaving for other guilds and shit talking leading to a bad reputation for damage control members). I have too much time on certain alliance characters so I will keep them and maybe move to other guilds but a clean break from most of the alliance drama seems to be best. Depending of you're horde or alliance you should be able to find the appropriate quest line for you.
At level 54 you can start doing most of the prequests. You can also do MC attunement at that level as well. Since you're a priest you should be able to get at around level 58 or 59 into BRSpire groups, but before that be sure you grab http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=18987 so you can do two attunes in one run.
I actually dinged 60 when finishing BWL attunement and grabbing the last part for Onyx attunement.
