I don't think an alliance side guild has a chance, too much bad blood on that side(i.e. players leaving for other guilds and shit talking leading to a bad reputation for damage control members). I have too much time on certain alliance characters so I will keep them and maybe move to other guilds but a clean break from most of the alliance drama seems to be best. Will look for a leveling guild on the ud priest

Depending of you're horde or alliance you should be able to find the appropriate quest line for you.
At level 54 you can start doing most of the prequests. You can also do MC attunement at that level as well. Since you're a priest you should be able to get at around level 58 or 59 into BRSpire groups, but before that be sure you grab http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=18987 so you can do two attunes in one run.
I actually dinged 60 when finishing BWL attunement and grabbing the last part for Onyx attunement.

I don't think TS is necessarily made for people that must join, if you don't want to join TS you don't have to. Problem is if you refuse to use VOIP software, you're likely not going to be able to raid because most guilds will say either that or no raiding.
I can't personally speak on behalf of everyone who uses TS, but it might take some time to get into the TS "crew" (there are the regulars and the not-so-regulars), but I see new people get into it very easily, maybe they've joined at a bad time?

Apart from that, there are both people who play horde and alliance. I don't want to seem rude, but really, don't ever expect anything from a 4chan guild. It's rare guilds actually manage to do something, even if small (see: shrek) most guilds aren't made to get far in raiding (see: salty dogs' first raid) and the "4chan" guilds that actually start raiding eventually become normie guilds (see: entitled) that's just how it is. Damage Control won't be raiding hardcore, the luckiest draw you can hope for is that the guild leadership will be given to someone else in the guild, but that might just end up ruining the guild like it has in the past (see: knights of the iron cross)

The Salty Dogs raiding guild died after wiping to Lucifron.
Heritage died on arrival.
I just don't think you should put your nose towards any fully functional guilds. As far as I guess, there are a couple of crews within 4chan right now. Some members from Boku no (both of them) are probably still talking today. Salty Dogs is a crew etc.

If you don't want it to change, I'm not particularly sure what it is you want. Glaston is Glaston, he's never gonna keep a guild alive, nor will Asscobra. If a guild is owned by Glaston, it will fall by Glaston, that's just how it is. Damage Control was doomed from the beginning.
If you know some people in the game, you can bring them to the Salty Dogs teamspeak and sit in a different channel, no one will force you to join the same channel as everyone else. Maybe some people will join you and you'll form your own group.

I've never played WoW before in my life and I've got a few questions, if you guys don't mind. Firstly is there much build\gear variety among classes? It'd be nice to know if I wanted to make an all INT warrior for whatever stupid reason I could, I know a lot fo WoW clones never allow this but I'm not sure if that's based more on recent WoW.
Secondly, at what point is partying pretty much necessary? After playing EQ for many years I like the idea of big levelling parties but again based on my knowledge of modern WoW clones that's usually not a thing, it's generally a quick zip to a max character and then the game begins.

Most classes stick within their niche, spell power pala the only slightly wonky build I can think of.
As for partying, many of the dungeon quests give good exp with some decent loot coming from the bosses and sometimes quests (level 20 pala and level 30 warr quests are imba). During leveling you might find an elite quest worth doing where you'll need to party. If I was doing a kill quest with a high counter or low respawns I would usually invite anyone I saw to spread the credit out, otherwise solo exp is too good. Have fun mate
