No. Merc unlocking system is very similar to LoL's champion unlocks.
There are also loadout cards with different rarity, but those aren't going to make you less shit
at the game, and everything above bronze is purely cosmetic
You can easily craft them by trading up the dozens of crap lead cards you get

maybe im just retarded but how do dirty bomb cards to make the badge exist if you dont get any cards from playing since its F2p?
Ive always made badges from using the cards i got from drops and then buying the rest off the market while selling and duplicates

You have to spend money to get cards in f2p games. Generally ~10 jewros for one card. Alternatively you can just buy them from the market.
