Something Edition
NOTE: The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, despite being poorly made, lacking a proper development team, years of unfixed bugs, and being in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, Squad has gone ahead and decided to add just a couple new features and jump straight to version 1.0 without proper balancing and bug fixing, just to boost sales. With their performance to date, it's clear that they do not deserve your shekels. If and when Squad begins developing KSP like the competent adults they like to think they are and stops acting abusively and manipulatively towards their community, we'll remove the above disclaimer. Until then, we as a community have decided that it stays.
Understand that we here at /kspg/ don't hate KSP; we've simply grown bitter over the way Squad has dragged such a promising title into the mud, and hope that our input might help to keep this sinking ship afloat a bit longer. However, we cannot in good conscience recommend buying this game to anyone.

Calculate how long you take to take off and reach your orbit. Mark your position in the orbit too.
Launch when target is that amount of time behind the position you marked.
>>122209174
how do I calculate that?
>>122209292
You launch and count the time that passes until you reach your final orbit.
Then you launch again synced with your target.
Of course this is assuming you can be somewhat consistent when launching the same craft
Proponents of the old OP have two (2) days to provide a platform for why the new OP is not acceptable.
Faggots, you had a chance to voice your opinion, we put it through multiple votes over multiple time zones.
This is how democracy works. There are at least two anons who make OPs who want the new one, and the votes means it's not hijacking.
What, besides HURR DURR, are you going to do about it?
>>122209803

Plus the new OP doesn't look good at all. You can't even put an Edition in the first post. And there's nothing wrong with the current OP, so why change it at all?

I agree the size is debilitating. I removed the clause about "No you can't talk about these" because we dont want to give the philanthropist any ammo, that loosened it up a bit.

Max realized he was shilling an identity he hated to preserve a reputation he doesn't care about, he's now switched sides again. I bet he admits that was him posting in the imgur album tonight.
I hope to god we alienated him from the entire staff. I think we may have. I hope he spent the last three days in isolation.

I buy early access games when I think they're worth the price, and not before.
>>122213104
>the song is about the superhero
It kind of is. Iron Man is a pretty old superhero comic. Started out with basically some kind of mix between Fallout power armor and a knight's suit of platesteel, and then became a guy in a hightech suit, then a guy who could turn his skin into the suit with nanites, then basically the movies.
ACTUALLY his girlfriend
You can find her through his facebook, if you do not believe this yeti would debase herself enough to date Maxmaps
>>122213663
Early access fails because the devs rake in the profits before the game is even finished, leaving no real reason to even finish it, much less finish it properly
>>122214278
The song is about a guy who time travels, to save humankind. The guy turned to steal then and noone would listen to him. Then the thing happened what the guy tried to prevent and he was happy.
It has no connection the the marvel superhero.

I'm going to elaborate this. They have "forumdads", like our billies. But the reality is, they're bunch of edgy kids, like those you see in /dsg/. Lots of them are the kind of people who ruin online games.
Here's a couple messages from the IRC I'm in. Do they look like billies? Half the things we talk in the IRC is complaining about Frontier, how they ignore the bug reports and actively ruin the game while adding nothing.

You'd also think they'd remove the various lines of text in the descriptions of some parts alluding to features that don't exist and will never exist, ie, jr. docking port saying that you can't transfer crew through it
At least they removed the "WIP" from the terrain scatter setting, even if they didn't otherwise actually touch the terrain scatter at all
>>122216306
I'm really looking forward to the 1.0 version they seem obsessed with calling 1.1This should have indicated to everyone that KSP was no longer being developed by competent individuals.

ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEEEEEEEN MINUTES
while you guys were busy with your kerbal roleplay, I went ahead and prepared the northern network to accept the supplies needed to really get those coal and iron mines pumping. This will achieve two results:
1- The mines will slowly increase production, which will then increase the production of metal, which will increase the production of supplies, which will make the mines increase their production faster until they hit their production cap and restore some sort of balance in the loop
2- after the loop reaches an equilibrium, the farm supplies production (which is the resource that I really need) will have skyrocketed and will allow me to start feeding those goddamn farms down there at the other network.
the amount of farm supplies will decide the amount of farm serviced by those supplies.
this is the final step before connecting the northern and southern network so they can cuddle together and live happily thereafter

On the off-chance you're him or maybe he will still read this, here is a list of things to consider but not necessarily respond to:
Project roadmap, update size, and development capacity are all bottlenecks effectively limiting one-another. If you clear them up you'd get a better dev cycle. For one thing, scrap QA and make an opt-in option for experimental builds. You're wasting a huge resource and the hotfix thing is not cute. Furthermore, the updates don't need to be so hulking in content, smaller more consistent ones will foster a better community.

welp, so much for KSP
Explain me
Why do Mexicans pretend to be interested in videogames?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdcVuUX0-JQ
What KSP needs is more frontiers
As of now, the only places that can be colonized are
>ground
>space
>surface of the ocean (sort of)
1.0.5 helped a lot in that it made the ocean surface and underwater a whole lot more navigable, if we could properly colonize the seafloor, underwater, surface of the ocean, air, and underground, the planets would have a whole lot more depth than they do now, where all you can really do is drive around and fly a bit
>>122242494
this guy might be professional af, max is just trying to trigger us
>>122242791
Not to mention if resources were more varied and different areas had different conditions of habitability. Like, there could be many benefits to living at the bottom of a sea on Eve but the suit and vessel specifications would need to withstand extremely high pressures and temperatures, which would require lots of research (and rare resources if you wanted to build in-situ)
>>122243057

pressurization would also make for more indepth early tier parts

Is there any way to choose which exit a kerbal uses when you choose to do EVA?
I'm using the Mk3 Cabin and I'm trying to get my kerbals to exit through the back hatch, which I have connected to a cargo bay. But they keep using the hatch on the right side of the cockpit, and I can't find anything on the wiki to let me change the exit location.
I even tried blocking the "external" hatches with fins and such, but the kerbals just end up standing on top of them.
Is this a futile effort?

Seriously, though it is easy to prove that zero is even and/or not-odd. The only argument for zero being not even is that it isn't a real number, which is a weak argument imo. There are a fuck ton of numbers that are not real, including complex numbers, which are just as valid as any other number.
>>122254564
Well, to know what an even number is, we need ot make a definition of an even number. The most common definition of an even number is that the number is divisible by two. In other words, even number MOD 2 = 0. So, what is 0 MOD 2? That is zero 0/2 is 0, there are 0 numbers left over. Lets go to another common definition of an even number, that is used in many proofs. An even number is also defined as 2k, where k is any integer. Lets set 2k = 0. In that case k = 0, which is a valid integer, therefore 0 is even.
As I said the only argument for 0 not being an even number is that 0 is not a real number. But, if 0 is not a real number then we either should not be able to represent it as a fraction, or as a square root. However, we can easily represent 0 as a fraction as 0/x, and 0 can easily be represented as a square root as sqrt(0). 0 is completely in the realm of real numbers. According to every single definition, 0 is even.

Fuck it, quantum entanglement it is.
Just about everything about in quantum physics is weird as shit because it contradicts everything we see in the world that we experience everyday. Quantum entanglement comes from physicists measuring the spin of particles, such as electrons and positrons. The polarization of photons are important as well, but can be ignored in this discussion.
In classical physics, the spin of a particle can be represented by an arrow pointing in the axis of rotation. Particles spinning in opposite directions have their arrows pointed in opposite directions. In the real world, we can measure the spin of particles using a detector. The detectors we use tell us if the axis of rotation is towards two plates, lets call these plates #1 and #2. Every measurement we make will be towards plate #1, or plate #2. Therefore, depending on how we orient the detectors, we can measure the spin in only one direction at a time. We also have the ability to produce a pair of particles, which we will call an entangled pair. We are able to measure each of these particles with a second detector. If we align these two detectors in the same direction, then the spins of the two particles will always be in opposite directions, every single time. Quantum mechanics and classical physics both predict this (I'll explain this further if anyone asks) If the two detectors are aligned 90 degrees to each other, the two particles measure opposite spins 50% of time, which is another prediction by classical physics and quantum mechanics. But what if the detectors are aligned in a position between 90 degrees and parallel? We get a completely different prediction than classical physics.
>>122257375
According to classical phsyics, the angle of the two detectors should have a linear relationship to what percentage of time the two particles have spins in opposite directions. But according to quantum mechanics, this relationship is a sine wave. When we actualyl perform the experienct, the result we get is always the one predicted by quantum mechanics, and not classical physics.
Suppose we align the detectors 45 degrees to each other. Classical physics will predict that the particles will have opposite spins 75% of the time, while quantum mechanics will predict opposite spins 85% of the time. As you may suspect, the 85% is what is actually measured. However, the fact that 8% is measured instead of 75% is a logical contradition, which forces us to believe that the two particles are senting message sto each other instantaneously. According to general relativity (again, if you have specific questions, ask), this implies that these messages are travelling backwards in time. In order to understand why this is the case, let us consider a simple logical thought expirement that is not related to quantum mechanis or to the measurement of spins.
Suppose we have a collection of marbles. Lets give these marbles three properties, A, B, and C. For each marble, we ar eallowed to choose only one of these three properties to measure. Each of these properties can have only one of these two values, which we will call "white", or "black". That is, the A, B, or C property of each marble can either be white or black.

oh shit
>>122257884Fugg I fucked up. I followed one anon's advice in typing shit out in notepad first but I copied and pasted wrong. Oh wellz! XD Going back to my old method of typing as I go
Now let us arrange all marble sin groups of two. Each marble is sperarated from its partner, and the two marbles are placed on opposite sides of the universe. We now choose one of the three properties to measure for each of the marbles. If we choose the same property to measure for both a marble and its partner, then we always get the same outcome for the two marbles. That is, the A, B or C property of the two marbles either both come out white, or they both come out black.
Now lets suppose we choose two different properties to measure fo ra particle and its partner. If we measure the "C" property of one of the marbles and we measure the "A" property of its partner, they always have the same value, and if we measure the "C" property of one of the marbles, and we measure the "B" property of its partner, they again will have the same value every time. Now, what if we measure the "A" property of one of the marbles and the "B" property of its partner? Based on the information presented so far, we should expect that they will have the same result. So, what if we were told that this is not the case, and that they have the same value only 1/2 of the time? This will be a logical contradiction with the information that was presented. If "C" is always the same value as both "A" and "B", then "A" and "B" must also always be the same value of each toher. But what if "A" and "B" were in fact equal to each other only for 50% of the pairs of the particles? This would imply that there is something fundamentally wrong with the rules of logic as we understand them.
Now lets consider a slightly different scenario. Again, we have a collection of marbles, and each marble is partnered with another marble, as described earlier.

This post requires a solid understanding of probability and since i, drunk, I will not provide a lot of math, you will get a lot of "nigga what" here. Bear with me for a moment, though. This is why I considered explaining probability ealier. Anywhoo... lets continue.
Each marble as the same properties as before, A, B, and C, and it is possible to select only one of these three parameters to measure of each marble. As before, if we choose the same property to measure for both a marble and its partner, then we always get the same outcome for the two marbles every single time. But this time, if we measure the C property of one of the marbles, and we measure one of the two other properties of its partner, they have the same measurements 85% of the time. That is, if one of the marbles has white for its C parameter, the its partner has white for its A parameter 85% of the time. And if one of the marbles has white for its C parameter, then its partner has white for its B parameter 85% of the time. If A is different from B 15% of the time, then A and B can be different from each other only 15% + 15% of the time, which is a maximum of 30%.
If one of the marbles in each pair has white for its C parameter, then we can have C = white 85% of the time, C = A 85 of the time, C = B 85% of the time, and B = A 100% of the time.
If one of the marbles in each pair has black for its C parameter, then we can have any one of the following situations:
C = A 85% of the time
C =B 85% of the time
B = A 100% of the time
Now, lets take a marble and its partner, and measure the A parameter for one marble, and measure the B parameter for its partner. Based on the information that I provided what should we expect?
If A is irreverent from B 15% of the time, and C is different from B 15% of the time, then A and B can be different from each other only 15% + 15% of the time, which is a maximum of 30%.

Like I said in the last set of inter-web lectures I gave, I will no longer dumb down anything as I am not really a fan of pop-sci bullshit that makes people think they understand more than they really do... I'm happy to answer any questions, though.
>>122259261
The answer, therefore, is that the A and B values should be the same between 70% and 100% of the time. What if we were told that is not the case, and that they have the same value only 50% of the time? as before, this would seem to be a logical contradiction with the information we have been presented.
based on the information provided, the A and B values must be the same at least 70% of the time, and not less than this. But what if when we actually performed the experiment, A and B were equal yo each other only for 50% of the pairs of particles (oh shit I mean marbles! but I'm not gonna correct this because by now you may have made the connection... everything I say does happen int he real world)? This would again imply that there is something fundamentally wrong with the rules of logic, as we understand them.
Now let us consider yet another scenario. This new scenario is identical to the previous example, bu in this case we take one of the two marbles out of each pair, and we reverse the values of its three parameters: A, B, and C. This means if we choose the same property to measure for both a marble and its partner, then we now always get the opposite outcome of the two marbles 100% of the time, and each marbles will have the C values opposite form the A value of its partners 85% of the time, and each marble will have C values opposite from the B value of its partners 85% of the time.
>>122253223
I'm not the same guy, you presumptuous, motherless, amazingly-stupid pile of shit.
>>122260124

>>122259914I must also say that in the case of learning, a great point in your education to hit is to learn that you really do not know shit. It is a humbling experience that makes you ready to learn from anyone throughout your entire life, which is a very important trait.
In this case, if we are asked how often the A value from one marble will compare to the B value of its partner, the analysis for this is idential to the previous scenario, but in reverse. The logical answer should be that the two values must be opposite between 70% and 100% of the time. But, what if when we actually performed the experiment, A and B were, in fact, opposite to each other only for 1/2 of the pairs of particles? This would again imply that there is something fundamentally wrong with the rules of logic as we understand them.
This last scenario is precisely the situation that we actually have with measuring the quantum spins of entangled particles. For example, we have the ability to produce pairs of particles that each have three different properties that can be measures, which we call the "X direction of spin", the "Y direction of spin", and the diagonal direction of spin." (in hindsight I should've been using X, Y, and D instead of A, B, and C... but I hope you get the idea. I'm sorry I never given a real life lecture on this) The relationships between these three measurements is identical to the one described in the previous scenario, and we actually do get the 50% relationship between the X(A) and Y(B) parameters when we perform the experiment. Though, this 50% figure is not what is mysterious, as 50% is exactly what we expected from the linear classical physics system, before quantum mechanics was discovered. What is mysterious is the 85% relationship between the "diagonal direction of spin" (C in my previous examples, or D, officially), and the other two measurements. In classical physics this relationship is 75%.
>>122255736
Lol are there people actually believing in "OMG EVIL RUSSIA WANTS WEST DED"? Either you are 60 yo propaganda-fed burger or 12 yo internet "expert"
>>122260427
A 75% relationship between the "diagonal direction of spin" and the two measurements is logically consistent with a 50% relationship between the A(X) and B(Y) directions of spin. However, as discussed earlier, and 85% relationship with the :diagonal direction of spin", A(D), is not logically consistent with the 50% relationship between the A(X), and B(Y) directions of spin. Yet, this 85% relationship is what is predicted by quantum mechanics, and this 85% relationship is what is actually measured. This logical contradiction is exactly equivalent in all three scenarios that have been discussed. It is only in the third scenario that actually occur sin quantum mechanics. But, in order to try to figure out how to resolve the logical contradiction in the scenario that actually occurs in quantum mechanics, let us go back to the first scenario, as this is the scenario which is the easiest to think about. Whatever solution we come up with for resolving the logical contradiction in the first scenario will also apply to resolving the logical contraction in the scenario which we actually observe in quantum mechanics.
To review, in the first scenario, if we choose the same property (A, B, or C) to measure for both a marble and its partner, then we always get the same outcome for the two marbles, and if we measure the C property of one of the marbles, and we measure the A property of one of its partner, they both always have the same value. If we measure the C property of one of the marbles, and we measure the B property of its partner, they both always have the same value. based on this information, we therefore expected that if we measured the A property of one marble and the B property of its partner, we would also always get the same value. But we were told that is not the case and they were the same only 50% of the time. So where did we go wrong with our logic?

>>122261014
I'm gonna take one post to explain, my A, B, and C system. This is all related to our detectors that detects the spin axis of the particle. Let us make the following substitutions X = A, Y = B, and diagonal = C. Basically the particle spins on these vectors, and our detectors can detect these spins. The C vector is basically X or Y rotated 45 degrees.... get it? Again ask a question if you are confused. I'll continue with this quantum entanglement shit in my next post.
>>122261014
One possibility is that we made an error when we assumed the three parameters inside each marble are always either white or black, even when we are not observing them.
Suppose that each parameter becomes either white or black only at the moment when we measure it, and that there is no way to predict the measurement ahead of time. This would mean that even after we measure the A(X) parameter, the B(Y) parameter of the marble is still neither white nor black, due to the fact that B(Y) has not been measured, and we can never measure both the A(X) and the B(Y) parameter for the same marble. This would explain why we should have no reason to expect the A(X) parameter of a marble to be equal tot he B(Y) parameter of its partner, in spite of the fact that the C(D) parameter of a marble is always measured to be equal to both the A(X) and B(Y) parameter of its partner. This solves the logical contradiction, but this now presents a new problem. If it were somewhow possible to predict the measurements of A, B, and C properties of a marble before the measurement is performed, then for the purpose of this analysis, this would be logically equivalent to each of these properties already having a value of either white or black, even before the measurement is performed. In this case, our explanation for why the A property of a marble is not always equal to the B property of its partner will not work For example, suppose that we can predict ahead of time that the A property of marble #1 will be white. This would mean that we would be able to also predict ahead of time that the A property of marble #2 will also be white, due to the fact that thew two marbles will always have the same value for the same property. Once we know that the A property of marble #2 will be white, we will also be able to predict that the C property of marble #1 will be white, due to the fact that the C property of a marble is always equal to both the A and B properties of its partner.
odds sleep
evens keep watching ej
>>122261812
For these same reasons, once we know that the C property of marble #1 will be white, then we will also be able to predict that both the C and B properties of marble #2 will be white, and once we are able to predict that the B property of marble #2 will be white, we can now predict that the B property of marble #1 will be white. So, we again end up with the logical implication that the A parameter of one marble must always be the same value as the B parameter of its partner, which is in direct contraction to what we actually observe. Therefore, the only way our explanation for this contradiction can work is if there is no way for anyone to be able to predict ahead of time whether a parameter of a marble will be white or black until someone actually performs a measurement. But, let us consider what happens when measure only one of the two marbles.
If we measure that the A parameter of marble #1 is white, then we will automatically know in advance the the A parameter of marble #2 must also be measured whit due to the fact that the A parameters of the two marbles are always measured to be the same value. Therefore, the moment we measure that the A parameter of marble #1 is white, the future A measurement of marble #2 instantaneously changes from being neither white nor black to being white without any doubt. This seems to imply that the moment of the A parameter of marble #1 is measured to be white, it sends an instantaneous message to marble #2 letting it know that its A parameter must also be white.Fuck I'm getting tired of explaining this but bear with me, I'm almost done
So, what would the implications of such an instantaneous message be for Einstein's theory of relativity? According to the theory of relativity, different observers can disagree about which of two events happened first and both points of views are equally valid.
>>122262391
Lets suppose a message is sent from point A to pint B. So long as the message travels slower than the speed of light, then all observers will agree that the message will arrive at point B after it is sent from point A. But if the message travels faster than the speed of light, then from the perspective of some observers, the message will arrive at point B before it was sent form point AI really need a blackboard here.... In other words, the message was sent backwards in time. If it is possible to send information backwards in time, this would create many logical contradictions. For example, it would be possible to win the lottery by sending the winning lottery numbers backwards in time, therefore changing the events that have already occurred in the past.
However, if we consider the messages in our thought experiment with the marbles, we should realize that sending these messages backwards in time does not create any logical contradictions. This is due to the fact that the only messages that are sent are whether one of the parameters is white or black, and this is a completely random outcome, which we have no control over. Since we have no control over the contents of the message that is sent, we would never be able to use these message to encode useful information, such as the winning lottery numbers. We would therefore not be able to use these messages to change past events that have already occurred, and therefore no logical contradictions have been created. So Einstein's theory of relativity has not been violated, because this theory only states that "information" can never travel faster than the speed of light, and that these random messages that we have no control over to not count of information. The two different observers in our experiment would simply disagree on which of the two marbles was measured first.
>>122262813
From one observe's perspective, the A parameter of marble #1 was measured first, and marble #1 sent an instantaneous message to marble #2 to let it know what its A parameter needed to be. From another observer's perspective, the A parameter of marble #2 was measured first and marble #2 sent an instantaneous message to marble #1. Both points of view would be equally valid and create no contradictions. Everything in this analysis also applies to the scenarion that is actualyl observed in quantum mechanis, where two entangled particles always have the opposite spins in the same direction, have opposite spins 85% of the time when the detectors are aligned 45 degrees apart, and have opposite spins 50% of the time when the detectors are aligned 90 degrees apart. This is what leads us to believe that the spin of a particle does not actually have a direction when we are not observing it, and that the particle makes up its mind only at the moment it is measured, with no way to predict the outcome ahead of time.
As before, this also implies that each time the spin of a particle is measured, it sends an instantaneous message letting its entangled partner know that it must spin in the opposite direction if the two detectors are aligned at the same angle, and this all has the same implications for Einstein's theory of relativity and sending messages backwards in time as discussed previously.
Hopefully I explained quantum entanglement well enough for many of you. It is a rather complicated subject and I don't think I can put it in a simple matter without omitting details that hurt your understanding of the subject.

No, I actually do something.I put entries in my resume and take most of the money
So, about the OP, I posted a proposal for a new version a few weeks ago and it was met positively except for the usual burnsquadcast guy that couldn't seem to stop shitting on it.
Since we are debating about OPs, I might aswell repost my personal version.
So my idea is to make a little FAQ focusing on the current health state of the game.
The main point will be the same (don't buy the game), but exposed in a different manner.
Less "Squad is mismanaged, etc." And more "the game is unstable and the devs put no effort in it."
No need hit the character limit explaining all the shit Squad did, there are plenty of people here who will be happy to elaborate on squad's behaviour without filling the OP with rants, should someone come and ask for more.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those who come here screaming "hurr you just a bunch of manchildren who are angry because you don't have your perfect spacesim". I know how things are going, but I also want the OP to be less of a rant and more of an objective analysis of the game.
OP in the next post
>>122265830
Current game status:
> Can the game be considered a full release?
No, for all intents and purposes, KSP should be considered still in early access state.
The game is nowhere near being able to stand on its own legs both from a gameplay perspective (career mode is definitely not ready and balanced) and a stability perspective.
There are still major bugs and memory leaks that shouldn't exist on a fully released game.
> Are there big issues with the game?
Bugs and instability are still a real and frequent problem, as with every product still in beta. Ask in thread for details.
> What are the devs doing?
Modified versions of popular mods are currently being included in the stock game while the game engine is being upgraded to its newer version.
An external team with heavily questionable experience is being tasked with porting the game to PS4, XboxOne and Wii U.
> Should I buy the game?
KSP can be very enjoyable if paired with lots of mods, but doing so may dramatically increase the instability of the game.
The Developers, Squad, have shown many times that they can't handle the project and are trying to squeeze all the money they can with the least amount of effort and with controversial PR tactics.
The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you shouldn't purchase the game, not because the game itself is unplayable, but because most of us agree that Squad does not deserve your money.then we would have the usual post with all the links and the pastebins we always had.
Done for tonight. Next part Ill add is a large fuel tank

>>122266798
I checked, that stuff is indeed in the old FAQ and modlist pastebin.
One could argue why we are keeping both an updated and an outdated version, but the basic stuff is already there, so we could either get rid of the old pastebin while putting the "what is KSP" in the OP, or we could make another pastebin just for the various game descriptionsand be done with the old FAQ, which is kinda stupid to still keep around

Any frenchbros here? Are you okay?
>>122272440
I think he meant everything in one post. Even all the links. But that's no important at all.
here is the update for the guy who was asking.
Not much happened as far as the main track placement goes, but the added traffic caused by the increased production is starting to put a strain on the original 2-platform stations.
Here is one I had to upgrade to a 4-platform and that will probably need a fifth one soon.
I really wish there was a more intelligent way to put signals before stations so that trains can know if a particular platform is occupied even when they are two signal blocks ahead.
That way I would be able to make some sort of "buffer" tracks before each platform instead of forcing every train to wait on the same, single signal like it is now.
kinda hard to explain on text, but the idea is to make a section of tracks in front of each platform to use as a parking space for waiting trains so that a parked train will not interfere with other trains coming and leaving other platforms.
Let's imagine a station has all its platforms occupied by loading trains. Ideally an incoming train would choose the buffer track in front of the platform with the train that is going to leave sooner, and all other trains would choose the next buffer in front of the train that is the most loaded each time. This would greatly optimize traffic.
What happens now is that an incoming train simply chooses the shortest free path available, often lining itself behind trains that still have to wait a long time.
This eventually causes all sorts of traffic jams and gridlocks where a train with a resource is lined behind another train that is waiting for that resource, permanently blocking that platform and forcing me to manually unlock the situation by rerouting trains.
The next most efficient thing to do is like pic related, just a single signal that manages the traffic on all platforms simultaneously. This has the potential to block the whole station instead of just single platforms, but it hardly ever happens
>>122274284

Ok, i trimmed a few words here and there, it is now at a comfy 1835 characters, enough to add whatever "[insert inside joke here] edition" you may like and still have room for improvement.
This format requires a little bit more "maintenance" than the old one, because it needs to be updated every time something big happens with development, not really a problem considering the time it takes for squad to roll out updates.

>a short OP gets a lot more end-to-end readers (meaning more people read the whole thing)
I understand your point but we may run into a problem here:
Right now the OP consists mainly of "the devs are lazy mexican fuckers, they are jewing out the game, fuck mexicans, pirate the game". It says almost nothing about what is happening right now with the game, doesn't say if it is good or not, doesn't say if and how it can be enjoyable and all the things that new players really care about when they first start to do research on a game.
so, we have a few options:
-Keep some of the rant, but add some info on what is coming out of development at the time of writing (and we end up with my proposal)
-remove the rant, add info on development, which could also be a valid option, but I think most of the people here would like to make it clear in the OP that the devs are not doing their job properly.
-remove the rant, remove info on development, just make it a basic OP with all the usual links and be done with text walls at all. Not really agreeing with this option, but it is an option.
There is no way to fit everything in one post, we either leave the basic stuff out for a pastebin link, or we completely remove the reason we have a text OP in the first place (which is to warn people that the game is good but the devs are bad).
I don't know, i really tried fitting everthing, but there are so many things to say that you just can't do it.
what kind of layout would you propose?

I think the fact that we have been posting the same thing for a year with no changes, in all its imperfections, suggests we have reached an equilibrium all posters are somewhat satisfied with.
Consistency and repetition say more than any fancy rewording ever could.
You've also picked a poor time to do this, as I've temporarily exposed this place to roughly 1k people, so it'll be a little shitty in here for a week or so.
Please include another option: keep it the way it has been for a year.
as far as what I would propose, keep the old, put a tiny tiny clause about how there have been some major changes and we're hopeful they reflect a sea change in development

The newcomers don't know what it said before so it's provenance is worthless in that regard. And frankly, OPs only get read by a person once. Nobody bothers to re-read an OP textdump unless there is useful information in there about mods or somesuch. It's no inconvenience to anybody to change it since none of us is going to read it.

>>122280593
Yeah sure, keeping the old one is indeed an option, I just didn't list it because I was too focused on trying to change it.
Anyway, the fact that it has been the same for over a year only screams laziness to me, it was good when it came out, but it looks stale to me now.
I just can't get over the fact that it also seems more like something from an angry kid than from someone who took the time to think at the fact that a lot of new people might not give two shits about all this drama.
we might keep the old OP as an other pastebin link, maybe? so everyone could keep track of its evolution.

Go fishing then, fish is super profitable
>>122293108
You probably don't even have a rough roadmap for the game and you are already thinking at what to offer to your backers.
Get your ideas right, make some realistic previsions of the time it will take, the staff involved, the skills you have to learn along the way, the new hardware you need to buy and set some objectives for the game itself.
How can you know what to offer to your backers if you probably don't even know how much money the whole thing is going to cost?
>>122294323
I like long videogames. They don't have to be deep or symbolic but for the love of god, don't come me with goat simulator or other lolsorandom games packed full of le funny memes.
They don't even have to have a story. Just give me tons of shit I can play with and give me a reason to play. Problem is that most games only give me half of it. KSP or Space Engineers give me tons of shit to play with but no real reason to play. There has to be some kind of balance.
I like problem solving.
I hate games where there's a rule how to play. Like the meta in mobas or rts games.
Worst thing you can do to me is give me a cutscene every few minutes or let me walk a straight path the whole game.
Challange is great when it doesn't end up in trial and error.
What could go wrong?
>>122295817
I'm curious about the signals, why are you using those exit/entry signals instead of path or normal block signals?

Because if I used path signals then shit gets fucked up and there are long lines of trains waiting to get through an area because another train occupies an area it won't even access or can't access in a turn. It works well for me without very many stops.
>>122296470

What are you going to do once you have more than one train on that single line?
Are you going to put random forks along the path, hoping that the two trains meet at the right spot in the right moment so they don't have to wait for the other to pass?
Two lanes is just the basic backbone of every rail line, unless you are 100% positive that no more than one train will ever be needed

Eh...i just don't see it happening for me.
I am used to go for the distance, meaning long ass lines with a handfuls of trains are not really suited for passing forks.
The only way I would to that is if I had two stations that sit a few dozens tiles apart, but at that point I would just use trucks or trams and get rid of the trains entirely
>>122298457
Ok, so here's your problem - you won't make more than $25 on that campaign, I guarantee it. You need a lot more than a pile of ideas and no team to make a game.
Do you know what engine it's going to be on? What kind of interface or play style it's going to use? Multiplayer? Any idea about the simulation systems?
If you're dumb enough to do this, at least take a week, find an artist and a design guy who know what they're doing, and turn out something that might actually make you some money.

An edition totally fits you dumb faggot Edition
>What is KSP?
KSP is build-it-yourself spaceflight game, often described as a cross between Lego and Orbiter, but lacking the complexity and depth of both. In it, you're able to build rockets, satellites, rovers, probes and planes from a selection of various preset components, and then fly them around in space and around planets. While the base game lacks any depth, with a focus on the poorly balanced campaign mode and the death of astronauts, a very healthy modding community exists that has far surpassed anything the game's developers will ever produce, and serves as the main draw of the game.
>Can I talk about (Space Engineers/Starmade/Elite: Dangerous/Scam Citizen)
There are other generals (such as /egg/, /edg/, and /scg/,) that will be a far better place for you to discuss your game. /kspg/ has more of a focus on more simulationist space games, such as Orbiter, Space Engine, BARIS, Take on Mars, Simple Rockets, Cities: Skylines and Open Transport Tycoon.
>Should I buy it?
No.
The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, has repeatedly made moves that can only be regarded as anti-consumer and greedy. Despite being poorly made, lacking a proper development team, having literally years of unfixed bugs waiting to be addressed, Squad went ahead and decided to add just a couple new (mostly broken,) features and jump straight to version 1.0 without proper balancing and bug fixing - most likely just to boost sales of their already multi-million dollar grossing IP.
With their performance to date, it's clear that they do not deserve your money. If and when Squad begins developing KSP like the competent adults they like to play at being and stops acting abusively and manipulatively towards their community, we'll recommend people buy their game. Until then, we have decided that we cannot in good conscience tell anybody to buy this game.

first thing: complete part overhaul, get procedural parts working so you have e.g. 1 cylindrical tank, 1 conical nosecone etc. instead of 70 different variants of what is basically the same god damn part, allowing more creative freedom, less physics engine strain, and more fun in the building process
create a set of parts that allows representation a broad range of real world and theoretical spacecraft, and have a consistent set of skins so you can control how each part looks more carefully, no more mish mash rockets
hire an actual artist (maybe B9?) to get it to look good
second, overhaul of the gui, especially in the VAB, potentially hire a UX person to oversee this, at the very least on a freelance basis
stress fixing of symmetry and snapping bugs, make construction a seamless and fun experience
complete rebalance of the tech tree for the new parts
overhaul planets, implement procedural planet generation system that would allow for the outer kerbol system to be new each time, but keep the kerbin/mun system consistent for a smoother starting experience
new planets must allow artist created unique surface features and details so it's not just a flat fucking groundweren't they going to do this with the trees and arches and such at one point anyway?and also more advanced atmospheric effects such as clouds and various forms of precipitation, acid rain on eve-like planets anyone?
kerbin receives cities that you mustn't crash space wreckage or asteroids into, and a general redesign to make the continents and biomes more distinct
overhaul of contract system, get rid of part testing contracts (what's the point even?) and create a more handcrafted set of contracts that are more closely related to your current tech level, for example, no missions to bring back samples from mun before you actually have the parts to land there and so on, again create a smoother early game experience and a more interesting late game...

>>122300761
Hold ctrl while placing the separate part of the station.
A window will pop up with the list of all the stations nearby.
select the name of the station you want that part to be linked to.
it only works to just outside the station coverage, so don't expect to have same-station tiles 15tiles apart (although you can edit this in the settings IIRC).
if there are no names on the station list, then you are too far from them
I dunno what to do once this lands. I guess I'll attach the massive fuel tank to the spess station?

contd.
resource overhaul in preparation for upcoming updates, simple but diverse set of resources, create prospecting mechanic in lieu of scansat etc
resources should be isolated veins to make retrieving them more interesting
new retrieval system, you must buy AI-driven boats, trucks and planes to retrieve parts, making landing closer to ksc cheaper and faster, landing inside of ksc would be free
timewarp friendly approximate simulation of orbital decay/burning up when orbit passes through atmo, and simulation of parachute equipped stages so you can retrieve them with the retrieval system
simple and forgiving life support system that can be refueled using resources
final feature update: space center management, you may now choose from several sites on kerbin, and establish multiple launch facilities, structures must be built over time, as must rockets. an actual management portion where you place structures and kerbals build them
VAB transition made seamless, rollout animation when rocket completes
retrieved resources can be sold for mad dosh
bases can be established offworld using the same mechanic, and resources here can be used for construction, habitats require access to life support resources
hire AN ACTUAL QA COMPANY, and probably some programming help, so the bugs they find can actually be fixed
KSP 2.0 is now ready for releaseā¢, for real this time
