I don't craft for money, though. I craft purely for the satisfaction of knowing that I *can* craft anything in the game, so that I don't have to bother making any money. I've got 2-star mainhands, offhands, and body pieces for every crafting job, but never bother having more than about 3-4m gil at any one time.
This patch not only just took a giant shit over the only reason I liked crafting in the first place, but went ahead and basically invalidated 15 2-star crafts that I did, Favor gathering and all, under the 3.0 system of only getting enough Purified Coke for one Ingot per Scrip Token/Favor set.
I could have sucked it up and dealt with it if the specialist-only recipes were just the small cosmetic things like the furniture, but it's literally every new recipe in the patch so I've been about as mad over it as it's reasonable to get over a video game.

When they introduced Specializations, the reasoning they gave was because they thought it was a problem that players couldn't craft on any single class without having to level up EVERY class to 50+, and most of the skills that Specialists got were designed to reduce the relevance of cross-class skills, giving them stuff like an alternative to Byregot's Blessing, skills that restore similar amounts of CP to Comfort Zone, etc.

You can look forward to your Specializations being rendered obsolete every patch as they will continue to make every new recipe specialist-only while also continuing to not give a fuck about balancing new recipes from one class to the other.
For example, CUL gets exactly one recipe, which is a significantly more expensive alternative to Baked Pipira Pira, with three more Crit and Skill Speed instead of Accuracy. BSM gets exactly one specialist recipe, which is just an Ingot that is used in other class's specialist recipes.
Poor ALC gets exactly one specialist recipe, and it's for a piece of shit outdoor furnishing that doesn't even look good.
WVR, on the other hand, gets 16 new recipes, including a bunch of new glamour outfits and i185 gear, some of which require Ingots from BSM and some of which require leathers from LTW.
LTW, on the other hand, gets a whopping 21 new recipes, and on top of that, zero of those recipes actually require materials that can be made by non-LTW specialists.
So basically, right now, LTW is objectively the best specialization and it's not even close, and WVR is in a close second.
ARM and GSM are extremely mediocre, but not entirely worthless.
BSM is the bitch job, that is technically a little bit useful but can't actually do anything on its own.
CRP is completely useless unless you really want the Void Ark furniture or you want to be able to watch cutscenes from your house/room instead of the Inn.
CUL got shit on hard and will probably never find a market for the only recipe they got, and ALC is just 100% garbage.
All of these are quite likely to flip around in the next patch so that the best ones now are as useless as ALC, and ALC will somehow be the gatekeeper behind fucking everything.

So guys, I hate to turn this into a blog but leddit is bad at answering things like this. I've always mained BLM/SMN, and since 3.0 I've primarily played SMN. I've cleared up to A3S now, but I've only gotten a few eso upgrades because farming alex with pugs on gilgamesh is impossible. The more I play SMN though, just... the more I see the flaws. Single-target DPS is horrid, and you can pop all of the drac pots and papira pira you want, but no matter how good you are you don't hold a candle to any given melee DPS. AoE is obviously fantasitc but that's extremely niche, and burst output is fucking terrible. I love the class, but I hate how hard I have to work for such bad gains outside of, say, A2S because ezmode smn aoe.
On the flip side, I have MNK, WAR, NIN, and BRD at 60. All are 190, with WAR and MNK being 192. I'm comfortable as hell on both WAR and MNK. Which do I go for 3.1? Let's assume diadem gear just isn't hilariously broken and BiS overall. What do you guys recommend?

As mentioned above, every static is going to be running DRK/WAR in Savage, which means you're stacking utility with Dragon Kick and Delirium. Ninja has crazy utility with Smoke Screen and Shadewalker, along with Trick Attack boosting the entire raid's damage. And, since you're going to have a WAR off-tank that should be keeping Eye up constantly, you do even more damage by not having to Dancing Edge.

Simply because they're one of the two DPS classes that hold big-ass weapons (BRD being the 2nd because gi-fucking-normous longbows and greatbows and shit), and their attacks feel like they have weight to them. Full Thrust? Jump and Shineshatter Dive? Motherfucking Dragonfire Dive? DRG has some burst that makes it hit like a truck.
MNKs have their fists, NINs have their daggers, BRDs have their arrows, and SMNs have their DoTs and egis. BLM has some heavy attacks, but DRG is arguably heavier.
If it wasn't for the job technically being a tank, I would say WAR like the other shitposters (one could argue that WHM has heavy attacks because of their Stone spells and motherfucking Holy, or even AST because lolGravity). For your sake, I respected your question and which jobs belonged in which roles.
