I used to think NC maxes weren't for me but I just recently discovered the magic of Mattocks with extended mags and slugs.
As retarded as that sounds, it's basically like having an AC-2 strapped to my MAX and frankly I love that feeling.

best ways to get certs early on would be to play the more support oriented classes like medic and engineer. just keep in mind that you've got a gun and use it every now and then. If support's not your thing I'd recommend heavy assault, as you've got more options for dealing with vehicles and MAXes which will help you get certs.
If you want to get proper gud playing light is helpful though, as you learn more about flanking and general combat flow.
for early use of certs upgrade your suit and abilities. you're starting with some of the very best weapons available with you so don't bother thinking about guns. consider getting medkits

Stats say that fury & kobalt are both significantly better than the bulldog for AI, and between themselves, are roughly equal at the job.
The fury and bulldog are roughly equal for AV, with the kobalt coming in a distant third.
Basically, get fury over bulldog, always.
Kobalt isn't much of a downgrade, considering how much cheaper it is, and that even though fury does better AV, you probably aren't using a sundy for AV purposes. Kobalt while not killing much air (fury/bulldog get near no kills here), does have some ability to fend of ESF's.
Just buy a kobalt. Failing that, a fury. Fury is shit though. I can't go back to it having used a marauder. Feels weak man.

The only thing fury has over it is AV damage, and that's shit at best. Marauder fucks up other harassers just as well also, and considering they're probably one of your main threats if farming, that's good.
So, unless you're hunting tanks (why the fuck would you? take a vulcan), the marauder is generally better.

Reload prevents grenade throws, and I find that I'm constantly getting fucked over because the second I'm out of revolver rounds, I've got no grenade use.
