i actually have a completely rational explanation for why it feels unfair, it's just not actually unfair.
it's because by the standards of computer AI, human players are unfair (ie they don't fly fighters like they're airliners). mentally, i do not have a map of player 1, player 2, player 3, etc, it's just me or them, and all of them are against me.
also there are allies but as i say, overlooked.
but the end result of this is that it's not all that fun. plus little things, like certain damage thresholds saying "ok you automatically jump out now" annoy me - in simulators like the il2 series you don't get that, if you want to stay in your position and shoot the enemy until your wingless plane hits the ground you're allowed to do it, you don't get 10 second limit. also in il2 series, i can fly any plane i want instead of tier system, so it just makes me ask why i am playing this when i could have reinstalled il2 in the time it took to make these posts?

I would also recommend cajus bekker's "angriffshöhe 4000" (fixed with duct tape in pic related - its old and well read) if you're into ww2 aerial history - subtitle is "a war diary of the german air force", and god damn it tells some stories.

Last year the MiG-15 was king of Korea, until recently it was the F-2 Sabre, and now it's the MiG again.
It's even more visible in tank battles, with IS-2, M18, etc

The F-1 is undertiered because it's one of those planes whose BR is owed to its armament. Better flight performance than the E-4 with 0.4 lower battle rating, and one less cannon. But since the MG/FF M in the F-1 is mounted in the nose, some people prefer it to the E-4.

I would get the P-80 desu. It's pretty shit stock but with the new BR system the only plane it ever faces that can outrun it is the 229, and 229s generally are too busy turning to level off and go fast, so you've got an escape button for most situations. Flying it will teach you a lot about how jet matches are played, unlike the 229 which will teach you about flying zeroes and killing ground targets or the vampire which will teach you about being slow, for instance.

Tracers are the best at shooting down props but in my experience are spectacularly terrible against jets. I have had good results with ground belts, setting fire to props at a high rate while still damaging jets eventually. There's nothing to do and players can't find each other with the new spotting system. Everyone ends up brawling on the deck or trying to poach the steady stream of bombers headed towards their bases at low alt. The only real draw seems to be that if you hang around long enough you can club planes outside of your normal br spread.
