I've had success in the past with carp migration bus, spawning in a ton of carp periodically in schools of space fish. Make a few player controlled (I remember naming one Evil Nemo and giving him traitor objectives to assassinate an engineer and escape alive).
I think last month Elim had a really nice bus based on hivebots invading after a "useless" artifact was found. He made it spawn a hundred hive bots at the outpost and the players had to fight and take it back.

When are those cases, though?
I do get faxes, comms messages, and even sometimes prayers for ERT when the situation isn't bad enough. But the only time I ever send ERT, and I ever see it sent, is when things are way past the ability of the players on station to handle but they've managed to contact centcomm and declare code red.
I'm not saying you haven't seen it but it's pretty rare cause I haven't.

I admit sometimes it's hard to get an idea of what's going on in the station when I am a player but we just had a game on friday (?) when nobody was really bitching over comms and medbay is (relatively) quiet, all of a sudden there's shuttle and ert call because someone said WIZARD over comms.
we talked whoever called the shuttle off the cliff, but the ERT came. I was security and in my opinion we had the wizard without ERT
