But five seconds after that picture someone detonated a 3-4 dev directly on top of an emitter and the singlo got free. Also there were xenomorphs, tons more traitors, and unending unidentified lifesigns detected notices every 5 minutes which resulted in a lot of spiders and garbage being fought away from the project.
But the project was a success.

I've had success in the past with carp migration bus, spawning in a ton of carp periodically in schools of space fish. Make a few player controlled (I remember naming one Evil Nemo and giving him traitor objectives to assassinate an engineer and escape alive).

Graytide isn't really good. I mean it can be good in rare situations. The other day Willy Spook and two others saved me from a changeling, me being the security officer and the three of them being assistants.
Graytide is unproductive actions by crew, nominally assistants but sometimes not. It creates scenarios for the crew to respond to. Whether it is good or bad isn't quantifiable without context. Even 'bad' things like breaking into places, or ordering gunz and going full cargonia, can make an otherwise dull round exciting. That doesn't mean they're doing everyone a service by being faggots and spam pushing someone over but they do interact with other players and create interesting (albeit sometimes annoying or terrible) things for players to respond to.

It's a colloquiallism which is hard to define. It's someone who plays assistant to not assist. Assistants, Clowns, and Mimes are in the best position to 'grey tide'. You greytide when you eschew your responsibility to do whatever. Greytiding is not necessarily bad or harmful: You can be an engineer and greytide. Why would you do that? You get a free suit and access to tools. The difference? You can be jobbanned from Engineer for that.
There are a lot of things you can do as an Assistant that you won't get in trouble for: You can open a shop. You can be a homeless man. You can rob people. The writing, I know, is awful (don't trying ending spoilers, I've just finished the campaign, played 8 hours straight). The gameplay was great, though. I wouldn't have sat through 8 straight hours of off-kilter Protoss speech and "please don't ask how any of this works" pseudo-science if it wasn't.
The faction system for choosing your army composition is actually a lot of fun, and you get Dark Templar extremely early in the campaign so you can play every mission as a stealth mission if you want to. The normal dark templar were good, the Aiur-faction Avengers are better, and theTaldarim Blood Huntersare insane, I've been finishing most missions with 30 of them and nothing else, just busting through detectors with support fire and abilities.
