I play smash online for a bit.
Very important: WARM UP. especially if you play multiple characters like me. I cant stress this enough, even if its just free for all friendlies. Kepe your hands literally warm, and fresh. Ive been to locals that took place outside and my hands were so cold I could barely move.
Just remember to warm up before your bracket set. It really does help, even if you think it wont.

What makes a 'good player'? I ask that with sincerity.
I've been going to locals a lot recently and I've become very very skilled. I've taken on and even beaten some of the top players in my area and have gained a small rep.
But my fighting style? It's not clever. It's not special. Some might say it's brain-dead.
I main Robin so my preferred way of fighting is wall out the opponent and rack of damage when they make a mistake, mixing it up with different types of thunder and arcfire especially. It does me very well.
But I don't incorporate anything fancy into my play with the exception of reverse Nosferatu. I learn tech but don't use it because what I do is 'fine'. I went 3-2 against one of our best Sheiks and while I haven't won, I can have reasonaly close games with the best player in my country.
So how do you improve when what you have is already pretty good but simple? I think the term is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Well I want to fix it, but not sure what's broke.

Some might call it a meme game but it does teach you spacing and fundamentals much more efficiently than sm4sh.
I'd recommend picking it up just to get those down. There's a difference between being good at smash as a whole and just being good at a single game in the series.
