That parts of it are actually good:
If the game is utter shite like EU4 there's no reason to play it. But say if the production, intelligence and diplomacy are actually good (and it kinda looks like it) you'll end up with a game that is in pats better than HoI3 and in parts worse. This would mean that whatever game you play you'll always miss something.
A bit like it is with Vic2 where the diplomacy and military are so much worse compared to HoI3 and EU4 respectivly but everything else is so much better.

Did you use the Installer and have a pirated version?
Don't do that, use the zip: http://www.moddb.com/mods/elder-kings/downloads/elder-kings-016-general-release-zip
Its the same issue that HIP has when you try and install CPR with a pirated game, you need to edit the main.py to get it to work. Elder Kings has a similar issue. If you know Python I can walk you through the steps to get the Elder Kings installer working with your CK2 install, but its really a lot less hassle to use the zip and just put the files in the correct place.

Most of the gameplay you get from EU4 will apply I think, a few things to bear in mind is that you can and should spam relationships with everyone, your monthly income is THE most important thing and it isn't at all like income in EU4, always be at +3 stability, the god tier sliders are free trade, centralization and free subjects in that order and the only must have idea is military drill.

I was playing asGermany, formedgrossgermaniumsand the non-German Austrian states were released as independent entities on formation as usual. Well, a couple years later the Berlin conference on the Ottomans goes down, and they release Romania from being a puppet in the settlement. I have Transylvania sphered from when they released from Austria, and when I decide to sphere Romania too, the very next day they simply absorb Transylvania.
Now I think this would be cool for the sphere leader to do; in fact, that was my intention, to sphere Romania and then changeowner all Transylvanian provinces to them, then puppet Romania. But there's no way that Romania should be able to just absorb Transylvania because it's in the same sphere as it.

I've been gradually building up the military over the past couple decades, and this decade it's spiked with all-out production of units and research of all military techs (focused on commerce, economy, and ironclad-level navy techs after the anschluss). The recent huge buildup has increased both the number of troops that need to be supplied and the supply cost of each brigade, which has been fucking my finances. And it's only accelerated with the naval building program which started in '73.
Germaniums needs colonies to supply the center with goods, and that means I need an infamy buffer. Once I land me some of that African coast, my plan is to switch back to Europe.
