Like a Musou game with characters from a MOBA I guess. Riot actually put a heap of effort into the franchise's lore, it'd make for a pretty solid story mode if someone set their mind to it.
It'd be kinda cool to see lol-style item builds in a Musou game. Like, every few hundred kills you can duck back to your home base and get a new gear upgrade. Or even better, you can preselect a loadout that automatically buys itself as you kill creeps. A Musou game with killstack gear like occult sword or Mejai's would be interesting.

I actually think I preferred dueling XI more, where you changed your attack type on the fly while each of you continually attacked. It was a lot more exciting than the strategic/round-based system in X. Since they're standing still in the screenshots with attack choices at the top I assume they run at eachother, attack, then run back and pause while you select again. Kind of bummed about that, but at least it looks pretty.

You could also paused in the middle of dueling in XI and the horses still continue running. They could have done something simlarly with the pause being mandatory instead of optional had they wanted. XII did something similar like that.

I think it's the only one which actually adds stuff (you have a bunch of extra scenarios with edited officers and some new maps and event battles too) and the price is strangely reasonable for being Koei.

Well, they change the selection of characters. In DW8E you can't even play with characters who aren't in a scenario by default, unlike in DW7E where they could randomly appear as free officers if you choose a non-custom character that doesn't actually exist in that scenario.

SoI's actually a lot of goddamn fun. Playing as the Matsura and trying to steal all the clay I could from the Shoni while the Ouchi raped them to hell and back was hilarious.It was, at least, until I accidentally ran one of my armies into an Ouchi army and immediately ended up at war with them. I had to accept vassalization like a fuccboi or risk losing everything.I only made it out with one of the Shoni's fortress, and by dog did that ever make me angry.
One fortress clans are fun as all hell though. Going to see if I can find a good opportunity to stab the Ouchi in the back and bring all of Kyushu to heel.Which is doubtful, seeing as how the Shimazu are on the warpath and have already eaten up every clan on the southern end of the island while the Ouchi are content to do FUCKING NOTHING.

Because his legend/story involves more than just being a fuccboi, I guess. Decent warrior, loyal as hell, revenge seeking, had brothers also loyal to Nobunaga, and ultimately died in the same attack(a betrayal at that, making it an even 'better' story) that killed their lord. And he's included in a lot of stories as it is, even before SW, unlike others.
I'm not really familiar with the history of this shudo crap, but my guess is not many were as noted as Ran was over the course of history/myth(other than Shingen's BF).
Speculation, though. I'm sure there were others who had more to them than just being fuccbois, but I think it's mostly just a matter of being lucky enough to have been 'chosen' by people to be embellished in tales over the centuries.

Again, not really well read on the history behind that kind of agreement, but it's hard not to imagine most fuccbois were merely strung along with "someday you'll be given tons of shit, of you develop yourself enough" types of false promises, so in my mind Ran being given pretty decent recognition in post and landworth seems like it would have set him apart from a lot of the others, even at the time despite few to no noteworthy deeds being recorded to his name.

On the topic of Koei game subjects, it kind of reminds me of a lot of the sons of Three Kingdoms officers. It's kind of like they were born/fought too late in the most popular years of the conflict that any achievement just gets glossed over.
It'd be even worse in Feudal Japan given how much more myth and legend dictate the history of the era. Folk tales kind of petered out by then. Hideyori himself is practically just a footnote compared to the generation of people before him.

To my knowledge, he does have a stipend despite only being a page, but he doesn't have any land nor participated in any battle. He did get promoted, but is still together with Nobunaga all the time. He isn't just a fucboi, but he also did jackshit.
Anyone who is son of a legendary person is almost always overshadowed by their father, it's unavoidable. Also, Yukimura got portraited as increasingly more handsome and younger the more legends about him are created, to the point where he became the definition of pretty boy as we know today, despite being in his later 40s at his death. Plus Yukimasa is killed during the siege of Osaka, where lots of other soldiers and officers also killed, so his death isn't very noteworthy compared to Ranmaru.

Aside from supposedly based on Kurosawa's unfinished movie script about a foreinger on Japan's soil, we haven't had much info about it for the last 10 years. The trailer, some screenshots and the confirmation that the game is coming out on PS4 in 2016 only popped up last TGS.

I don't even have a PS4 so I won't be able to play it, but the trailer did remind me a lot of Onimusha too.
But I'm not sure it's really what I want from the game. The reason it even appealed to me in the first place was because of Akira Kurosawa name drops, and when I think his movies I don't really think magic and demons. I was expecting something slightly more grounded, so it's a bit hard not to feel a little disappointed no matter how much I'd like a new Onimusha.

Yeah, when I heard of the game based on Kurosawa's script years ago, I imagined it would be part action part historical, kinda like The Last Samurai movie with Tom Cruise in it.
Though judging by how long it took for the game to finally have a teaser, Koei probably had problems turning the original script into actual interesting game, so they had no choice but to mix fantasy elements in. I'm somewhat disappointed too, but I think it'd be for the better.
My PS4 is now a Koeistation anyway, so I'm definitely buying the game when it comes out.

Presentation-wise, it's worse than SW4 and 4-II due to lack of full cutscenes, using mostly the semi-VN style (that's also used in 4, but in addition to the full cutscenes).
However, the story mode is generally considered better (there's a single story from beginning to the ending, with many what if branches splitting from it focusing on the various factions), level design is better too (it's focused on 4 character switching, rather than 2, and generally the objective design is more focused on that than in 4/4-II and with no flags, so there's no easy way to drop enemy moral aside from accomplishing the objectives.
Aside from the presentation issue above, it does have another issue though, since all characters always being at level 1, which can get kind of annoying. There's an auto leveling thing, but you can only use it after getting the characters, and it's not very fast.

A new IP would be nice and be another way to bring the strikeforce gameplay back, but I have no idea how they'd go about it or make it appeal to anyone. I don't think Strikeforce did particularly well despite it being able to mooch off of the DW recognition/fans.

Runs at 10fps, there's very few characters on screen, the level design is boring, fighting system feels stiff. The game actually tried to have boss fights, but they're all terrible. It's just not fun to play. The only good thing I jave to say about that game is that it has a decent soundtrack.
