It still had a seafaring fleet in the 80's (21 ship strong) and they stopped having seafaring ships in the early 00's iirc, after some really bad fuck ups. Just because you are landlocked doesn't mean you can't have a fleet, you can rent a port for example.
Also the Danube is connected to the Black Sea, which allowed merchant/cargo ships to have a home port at Budapest.

Point and laugh.

I found it to be good value for the price and it works well with DCS and anything less sim than that. Not sure about BMS yet, but I'm about to dole out for a better stick soon anyway.

It's not rocket science. All of the softwares that handle open source headtracking can make so that the games think you're using trackir, and IIRC most of them, including freetracknoir do that by default.

I really like it, though I knew I would cause I've been playing CM for years.

The russian tanks are T72B3s, T90As and T90AMs, so I don't know why people are calling them monkey models. The US M1A2 SEPs pound for pound are better, but the Russians usually have more tanks or more organic AT weapons so it balances out.

>AirTronicUSA demonstrated two Americanized and greatly improved RPG-7v2 based weapons at the key for American defense procurement AUSA (Association of the United States Army) exhibition mid October 2015. The first is a somewhat lightened tweak called the PSRL-1 and is a slightly lighter weapon than the RPG-7V2 featuring Eotech Red Dot Sight with additional ability to take magnified sights and other goodies on no less than three Picatinny rails, which are also found on the vastly more capable PSRL-2. The article is confusing in that it referred to both Red Dot sights and AirtronicUSA custom designed sights. Range is considerably enhanced via the sights, but also by new, already in production ammo with far more lethal warheads. This weapon enters production second quarter next year. The second, the PSRL-2, is such a radical redesign that with its camouflage paint it looks like something out of Halo. It weighs half of what the Russian weapon weighs. Both weapons have a 90% first round hit probability at 800 meters--twice that of the RPG-7V2 As if that wasn't exciting enough, guided rounds are already in development with a 2000 meter range, creating a much cheaper than Javelin option for killing things! These Americanized RPGs seem entirely credible to me as candidates for inclusion in CMBS at some point. Supplying Ukraine with these, especially the lightweight and very durable PSRL-2, would greatly improve Ukrainian ability to defend vs armored attack.

I've been wanting to get it for for a while now but I'm not willing to spend a full $60 USD on it, the Australian dollar is crap right now and that's like at least $80 AUD

I had fun with the demo though, I found the larger scale combined arms scenario it included quite challenging, the open terrain it was on made advancing with the Armour very frustrating as the opposing hill was littered with entrenched ATGM teams. It was my first experience of ATGMs in Combat Mission and it was very rough.

If that anon who's an IRL pilot is here, and if he's having trouble getting the accu-feel addon to work with FSX:SE - you have to install another addon called "FSUIPC". It will ask for a registration but just cancel when that comes up. After that, accu-feel should ask if you want to run and trust it when you launch FSX. If that's not enough, also follow the directions that you'll find from the first result in google.

Nobody should have to deal with this convoluted bullshit ever again.
>>

BMS 4.33 is FREE, contains f16, f18, harrier, mirage 2000c, tornado, clickable cockpits, with a few like f15e, f14, f5 being mostly playable. You can shoot HARMs, Harpoons, AMRAAMS, bunker cratering bombs, as well as glide bombs. Far much more content than BMS, albeit at a slightly lower quality and graphics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcMOOOulhME
>>
>>121247853
On a scale of FC3 to A-10C, how 'difficult' is BMS?

Does it have MP?
>>
>>121248136
Closer to A10C than FC3. This is mostly due to the fact that the tutorials are poor and most teaching material are YT videos and field manuals. Though you don't even need to learn to ramp start unless you join some online pvp events. Oh yeah, theres MP. It's a bit clunky because the game is from 1999 but as with the rest there's a lot of material online about it
>>
>>121248136
I'm in the process of learning it right now

It's kinda similar to the A10C hotas (DMS, TMS, CMS, Slew) but the systems are MUCH simpler and way more userfriendly (for instance instead of weapon profile shenanigans, you can just press one single button on the weapon display to change ripple quantities)

It's like a crossover between the DCS F15C and the DCS A10C

The biggest hurdle is the lack of documentation. Also it has much more content so naturally there's more you need to learn in terms of aircraft, missiles / bombs and anti air

It's really starting to dawn on me how costly maintaining an air force is becoming with each new generation of aircraft. It seems the only country able to maintain a sizable air force without completely going bankrupt is the US.

As much as I am a slavaboo at heart, the US undeniably has air superiority over pretty much the entire globe.

Something tells me that the future of air combat does not lie in having few expensive stealth planes, but having plenty, cheap, conventional ones.

That's just me though.

The F-16 itself is close to the A-10C, but not quite as complicated because the F-16 was designed to be all automated whereas all that computer stuff was hacked onto the A-10C.

The F-16 is a pretty straightforward and easy jet to fly. Even the startup is very simple. The hardest part is just making sure all your stuff is configured right after startup. Air to ground weapons deployment is pretty similar between the two from what I understand. Air to air combat is not that far removed from FC3 because air to air combat just isn't very complicated from a systems management point of view.

This is incorrect.

I don't know if the Grach's targetting computer works like this in real life but in DCS, you can only get a guaranteed hit with laser-guided weapons if you lock your target when it's in the boresight of the laser rangefinder.

When you select a laser-guided weapon, like the S-25L or the Kh-25ML, the laser rangefinder is locked in a position that you can only slew out of when you have the laser on, HOWEVER, if you slew the reticle too far down, you will not be able to hit your target. What you CAN do, is lock your target when it's near (about a distance equal to the radius of the reticle) and move your plane so you don't fly directly into your target. In the gunsight, it will seem as though the reticle is WAAAAY off target (it would be above it), but believe me, it's DEAD ON.

BTR-90 for Spetsnaz, swap transports with the GRU.

VDV should be in wheeled, so they can keep up with the spetz.

Remove MSTA, replace with Nona.

Buk at trained, no need for hardened

Personal thing, I would put the CV in another transport, and replace a GRU with Razvedka in Ural. This gives you a cheap tripwire recon you can put everywhere.

Replace one of the BI with a 64BV or BVI. T-72BI struggle with things like M1A1 or Leo2A1, but you only have 2 BU's.

BMPT overlaps a lot with 122-54, but is less efficient. Could remove BMPT and bring another helo, KA-50 probably.

With KA 52, perhaps replace the 28 with a 24V.

The correct way of using guide weapons on the su-25A is leaving them at home, they are only going to get you shot down, and you'll be way faster and more effective with rockets, and the guided stuff doesn't give you any range advantage over the big rockets anyway.

It's nigh impossible to map the controls(you need to use the included shitty MS excel spreadsheet to do it), the interface sucks.

Just stay in DCS, it's better in every way, unless the F-16 really interests you, in which case, good fucking luck.

Sort of but not really.

In 4.33 they redid the default keybind files to be way better than before. Like, they are leagues better than before. For most of the functionality, the easiest way to bind the keys is to go into BMS, load one of the default keyfiles (I used BMS-Basic) and then just start binding the stuff you need in the menu right there.

If you have something that maps reasonably well to the real stick (X-55, CH HOTAS, Thrustmaster Warthog), then I suggest using that as a starting point for how you should bind your stuff and then adjusting the binds as you see fit once you start using it and noticing that you'd rather move some things around.

Reference this for more info on what's on the real stick/throttle.
http://falcon4.wikidot.com/avionics:hotas

All of this is in the manuals though, which you should also be checking out when you have more detailed questions.

Like I said in my last post, the hardest part about learning BMS isn't the F-16, it's setting it up. It's totally worth it though because Falcon BMS is really fucking good at everything that DCS sucks ass at. Learn both. Play both. They're complement each other very well.

>For most of the functionality
To expand on what the rest of that functionality is, because it's very specific, is the pinkie shift state.

BMS supports using the pinkie switch on the stick as a shift state. However, there's no way to bind that in the menu. To do it you need to either edit the keyfile yourself (don't bother), use the excel file (too complicated) or use the keyfile editor that some guy threw together a while ago.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/keyfileeditor/

It's not perfect, but it works well enough. It'll spit out a bunch of errors when you load your keyfile up but it's fine. Don't worry about it.

Once you have all your basic binds set up through the ingame menu, export your keyfile, then load it in the editor. With the editor you can then assign things to the shift state.

Treat it as your absolute last step in keybinding though, because if I remember right the keyfile editor removes the comments that makes binding ingame so easy, but it's been a while so I don't know for sure.

Ask again when it's out. RAZBAM is totally unproven as a DCS developer. In the FSX community they're known for making pretty models but shitty flight models and systems.

Assuming the module is actually good, the Mirage should be about on the level of the MiG-29, just with less missiles and without the EOS. I'm looking forward to it mostly because it's the first 4th generation fully modeled DCS fighter and as long as the module doesn't suck I'll probably get it on that basis alone.

You might think this is a joke. It isn't. I've wanted to kill myself for a long while now, probably since around 12 years old. The only thing that alleviated my depression when I was younger were flight sims. They're the best games I'd ever played. I swore to myself when I got bored of DCS A-10C (two years after it came out) that I wouldn't kill myself until Fw 190 D-9 was released. I didn't count Combined Arms, because, well, it sucked. Now that F-14 is coming out, I don't know what to do with myself. I still want to die, but I can't just keep pushing it off until the next release. I'm addicted to the series, yes, but I'd like to have some motivation to live other than a video game. I feel so pathetic. I've attempted suicide twice before and been admitted to a ward for two weeks once, which only made things worse. What else is there to live for? People generally bore or upset me. I have a girlfriend, friends, family, pets, a job, everything I could really ask for. I'm not allowed to get medication as I'm still under my parents insurance. I'm working on going back to therapy, but my parent's think my depression is just in my head. I'd really love some advice, or just someone to talk about random shit online with.

I just started getting better this summer, I've been off all my pills for a few months now. Life is the best it's ever been. I think what helped me the most was exercising (I don't even lift, I just started walking around and shit) and eating (was 103 pounds for a bit, have gained 20 pounds in the last few months).

I can't promise either of those will work for you tho. If you want people to just chill and talk with check the TS in the OP, we play DCS coop pretty frequently, especially on the weekends.

Get off your parents insurance or find a way to talk to a doctor and get on some medication. It won't magically fix everything but it would probably help

Because I have a Combatstick instead of a Fighterstick for my HOTAS, I can't map all these controls. Which ones should I leave out? That's 10 buttons, 1 ministick, and 6 hats. The stick also has a throttle wheel which I guess could be antenna elevation.

I'm actually in the same situation as you with my X-55 when it comes to stick bindings. I can't map the countermeasures correctly on my stick because it's just a button like the Combatstick.

What I did instead was map the CMS to the Trim hat. You'll rarely ever have to trim with an F-16 anyway, so I just do it with the keyboard keys whenever the situation comes up. Eventually I'd like to put trim on the shift state for the trim hat if I ever get around to it, but it's not a big deal.

On the button where the countermeasures normally goes, I use that for my wheel brake because I have no pedals.

It doesn't matter too much where you map antenna elevation, but that's very important to map, so make sure you have it on an axis. You'll be adjusting it a lot when scanning for air targets.

The manual range knob you can safely ignore. It's not really needed in BMS because you'll rarely have trouble seeing targets on the A-G radar, but just be aware that pic related is what it does at extreme values. The default is in the middle.

Oh, the comms hat switch on the throttle is probably worth a special mention too.

If you don't plan on using the ingame comms with other players, the comms up/down are kinda pointless because you'll be handling all comms with the AI through the QWERTY menus. For the sake of consistency I still leave them bound there even though I never use them.

Comm switch left/right are interesting though. If you hold comm left for a second it'll start the datalink between the members of your flight which allows you to see them on your HSD. Not essential, but very useful. Comm right has something to do with assigning or sharing targets. I haven't used it myself, but I've seen it work in MP. I also noticed that now in 4.33 there's an option in the wingman menu about the datalink.

Either way, I still recommend binding everything as close as possible to the real thing. As you play more you'll pick on things you don't ever use, and things you wish were bound and over time you'll bind things as needed.

Is it worth it to drop 150 bucks on TrackIR? I'm tired of using the China Hat on my joystick for looking since its so slow and inaccurate.

Just make a Freetrack setup for a fraction of the cost if you're worried about the money.

PS3 Eyes go for super cheap.

Devfag here

I could start working on a bms keyfile generator that's as simple as possible (select function, press hotas button(combination)), or does something like that already exist?

It'd actually be rather simple
>>
>>121321351
There's a program which does that for the time being, however, it's partially not working like >>121298574 mentioned.
Anything is better than the fucking excel sheet, really. However keep in mind that BMS key binding can get rather hairy with the shift layer.
