Well, you already know the answer. You've been giving magnus the boot when you aren't against dark/sharr.
I don't know how good Raklet is as a totem because I've never used her.
Yuri gives hp/car, which is better than kiki's passives, but kiki is a defender with good reflexes.
Nerua gives crit resist/car, which is good, and she's good against light/ww. Replaceable if you don't need the crit resist for a particular matchup (ie, check their frontline to see how much crit they have and compare it to your gk/line).
Same thing applies for Silk.
Everything depends on what you're playing against. There is no such thing as a single, static backline that you should use for everything. Therefore, you can never have too many players for your backline.

A stronger front line or a stronger back line? I'd most likely be sacrificing Yuri's spot for Kiki. Until I get something like an Earth's Cry for Kiki, I don't know that I'll have a reliable way to crash out of back lane.
None of my back lane will have any attackers, so if they all get their HP wrecked or something, the ball is probably going to stay there since none will want to attack through.
Hmm.. Should I spend 320 gps on Raiden so I can finish Magnus chain? I'm 50 stones away from getting Isillia, although I have more than enough in 3-4*s to make it anyway.
Which line does Ashlan work best? Also that sharr video posted before made me wonder if I should be running both neura and Magnus backline with just two hp totems

Magnus is the weaker of the totems since all he provides is some HP and Speed aside from his elemental resistance, while Nerua gives Crit Resistance and Counter Attack REsistance.
In reality, you should really only use Magnus when you're going against a Dark/Ardor Striker.
Otherwise, there are better universal totems to use (Raklet, Yuri, etc.)

In my experience totem stacking backlines are very hard to steal from without counterattacks. I use four front Thunder and what usually happens is everyone suicides on Kiki.
Eventually everyone gets low enough that defenders would penetrate and by then you have a lot of spirit from all the passing.

Trying to build a team around the high star players that I've found so far.
I've got evolved and special trained Akane in the forward middle position so that she can pass 30% of her critical rate (which is boosted by her other skill Dash II) to William.
Any suggestions on what can be improved upon here? Still new to the team building.
Dunno if this helps, but other 4 star players I've got are Elicia, Jay the gay, Yuna, Siegfried, John, Sofia, Jill, Iris, Mira, Nia, White Tiger, Meg, Ari, Ramia, Tod, Trones, Sarah, Labella, Draven, Nevantos, and a bunch of animals that shouldn't be playing soccer.
Just got a blazing essence as my Unique stone for completing challenge mode at rank 73. How happy/sad should I be?
I put it on my VB so he is at nearly 100 percent crit now. Hopefully once i get him STed for a crit damage stone and EEed he will be oneshotting everything

My VB has over 150% crit, no crit stone. Currently using Ancient Stormer, Ardor DR, Ardor Reflex with dark speed on prism. Since he naturally gets a lot of damage, he can still shit out 1,5k+ damage on first hit, getting over 2,5k on third hit+.

Silk should be a staple on your backline in my opinion. She should be in Meiran's position. Meiran doesn't really bring anything to your backline.
Saramir can replace Magnus if you need a long pass option and and a little extra Crit Resist assuming you're 3/5 Overwhellming 5/5 Active Block.
Otherwise use some other totem like Raklet, Yuri, Miho, etc.

There's a last mission somewhat. You also get the 2 weeks duration special boss.
PvP is basically you fighting against AI of the enemy team, you can definitely finish story mode without it, and while you can get the rewards it gives by selling drops or doing colosseum of despair, it's better to do PvP to get more rewards.

First or second best dark attacker, with enough crit rate he can have 40% crit dmg and DR when attacking or attacked. When he penetrates he get spirit gain and DR though this is standard on most attackers. He also debuffs the for AP and reflexes when he penetrates. Fuck it is hard to screenshot the damage on the GK. I have to time it just right to see the numbers as the ball animation blocks it and I blew it this time.
This was not a very amazing back line, but with his active block + nerua and it was still a very easy OHKO for beatrice. If he used his Silla ace instead he would have had a chance at surviving but then his hp would have been even lower so maybe not. Silla + nerua rarely save Kei anymore.
The problem comes with isillia where beatrice chance to crit is a coin toss at best. Her damage reduction is nothing special but stack CR can really fuck up Bea. If it crits it still can kill a 2.4k or less isillia, but her hp can go a lot higher than that. If she survives the crit it is up to baltheon or kiki to finish her and they often fail at that.
tl;dr
High pen beatrice is still working reasonably well at the SSS tier, but a heavy CR stack can still fuck her up because that extra penn comes at the expense of an extra crit stone.

What people are failing to realize about this change is that Magnus was typically a circumstantial sub when you were playing against Sharr or the odd Lucid/Vitos player.
Most people that aren't mono ww don't run Magnus because they have different backline totems that provide more than just his 1 line buff.
So people probably won't be running him on their main/away team that much more frequently than before, unless they care about winning away games for gold, I guess.
But even then, it's not like you're against Sharr/thunder every game, so it's not necessarily optimal anyway.

Using both of them really limits your backline options. Neither buffs your GK significantly on their own besides their elemental defense and neither is that great for breaking out on their own.
Magnus gives:
30% ardor defense
30% thunder defense
25% speed totem
25% hp totem
Nerua gives:
30% light defense
30% WW defense
30% CR
30% CAR
Stacking both of these is not that useful. Better to stick with one and then use a solid defensive totem to supplement them.

There's no reason to run magnus outside of mono ww when you aren't against thunder/ardor strikers and have access to other totems that give more than 25% max hp and as.
Since not everyone is a thunderfag or ardorslut, there's no reason to believe there will be a substantial increase of people just leaving him on the team and not switching him out.
I could be wrong and people just invest in him to the point of preferring him over another totem, but I think that's unlikely with how scarce mats are. Most people in this thread aren't 12-13k ta with mats sitting around ready to hyper max anything they feel like.
