Only if you look at the potency on the skill. Fell Cleave is 500*1.2=600 because of Maim, which should have 100% uptime. Goring Blade is 540 potency, 320 of which isn't even affected by Storm's Eye. DRG's Chaos Thrust is also 600 potency total, meaning Goring isn't the strongest DoT.

Yeah, "a variety of reasons" includes "they have to give up their bread-and-butter mitigation tool to use it".
I'm not complaining about it and I think it and Warrior in general are balanced pretty well (against DRK, anyway). The way it's set up, Warrior is capable of the best tank damage, but they have to give up almost all of their defense to do it, while Dark Knight gets almost-as-good damage, but retains almost all of their defense while they do it. It's pretty cool synergy-wise.
It's hard to imagine where they could fit Paladin into that spectrum without drastically overhauling the nature of endgame raiding, but if you ignore that, they did a pretty good job with the other two tanks.

Let's say you're actually playing properly, and you're AOEing. That means after your dots are up, you'll be on two aethertrails. Now, if you're not retarded, you can look at what's going on and decide "Do I wait for painflare, and dreadtrance later, or should I fester so I don't risk losing aethertrail, or go into the fight with fucked up stacks".
Yes, you need to plan around what your party is doing. No, SE shouldn't take out the only half way difficult thing about SMN because you can't manage your baby mode resource.
