There's still the mystery of HOW it'll be dark, though. Scott could continue to release cutesy, bright, cheerful peeks at game footage, game music, and game screencaps, but with the occasional really dark/grim site teaser. It would leave people confused and wondering how and when the game gets dark.

But it's all about the execution with tone shifts like this. Now we all know, going in, that we're not getting a cute RPG, and that it's going to secretly have horror elements. He threw his surprise hook down the DAY after he released the trailer, one of the most retarded moves in regard to selling a product that I can think of.
It's like if you turned on Earthbound, and the game opened up with "Hey Ness, go check on that UFO with your goofy dog, also don't think too much about this, but the ending of this game will become super dark and you'll have to abort some dark nightmare creature that moans your name and how its in agony from time and it'll be really fucked up. But enjoy your adventure!" It'd ruin the whole experience.
I want to give Scott the benefit of the doubt here, but he's been very 50/50 in terms of living up to his hype/ideas or having them fall flat. The whole thing seems poorly done, poorly planned, and on a personal opinion level, in bad taste to me.

The text on the bottom says "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE". Someone did something that got cutesy Mangle, the more or less star of the trailer thanks to the stinger, to kill herself.
It seems more like Scott was just really upset at all more vocal haters and this was him lashing back. That he got rid of it so quickly also adds to this. He's got a morbid sense of humor sure, but this is a christian man we're talking about, suicide is WAY out of the left field for him to use as a spooky gimmick. This isn't Outlast or Fatal Frame, it's the Chuck E Cheese spooky game. Seems more like something he'd only draw or resort to if he was genuinely upset. And again, getting rid of it so quickly, well, it's something I could potentially see myself doing in his shoes if I was upset, went full on "They want even more grimdark, take it then!" then feel embarrassed about it then pull it down very quickly afterwards.

I'm just going to go full autistic. Feel free to ignore this post or call me a faggot, but this has been bugging me all day and night and the thread is slow anyways.
But a big part of why I really don't want FNAFWorld to go grimdark or for the shock image of Mangle killing herself to be a genuine rep of what's to come (rather than just Scott lashing out at 12 year olds which I really hope is just the case) is largely because of what FNAF has come to mean for me.
While some had their issues and yeah, they aren't all perfect, I adore all four games, and I have a lot of respect for Scott as a person. How he stayed spooky and surreal without ever crossing his moral boundaries. It made his games feel respectable, how he could get emotions across without resorting to shock value (aside from the shock of a goofy jumpscare). The dude was and is a huge inspiration for me, hell, when I read his interview about his faith and suicidal thoughts, I related a lot having been in a suicide ward myself, and that he was able to make something terrifying without crossing moral boundaries made him a really respectable figure for me. Since then, I'd found myself doing the same unintentionally, before this general the stuff I wrote for other boards had no rules. Rape, mutilation, typical 4chan edge, stuff I'm genuinely ashamed of writing/drawing now.
So then FNAFWorld is announced, and after 3 games of relatively silly black humor and one dark game (where the theme of neglect WAS taken very seriously), I see a game celebrating what I consider a classic situations of rags to riches. Scott celebrating the spooks of four games and finally getting his name out there, the dread is gone, just smiles and celebration for finally gaining the success the man earned. And he was finally getting to make the cute, child-friendly game he's always talked about wanting to make in interviews.

And then, right after the trailer had me so happy and excited for not just the game, but the whole series and Scott and the general and everything else, seeing an image of one of the mascots committing suicide just seems... Extremely in poor taste and wrong.
Even in FNAF, the darker themes were usually played for comedy, with the exception of Springtrap and FNAF4, which again, was a serious game. Something about seeing suicide displayed full force by a character like Mangle doesn't really cause me to feel fear or to feel disturbed, not even feels. It's not even a matter of comedy because she ain't got no neck. It's just... disappointing.
I know Scott's just a dude, but for a year he's made games, donated to charity, and held strong to his values despite the often terrible fanbase and complaints of merch and all that shit. And knowing this same guy thought it would be funny, or would get back at those haters, or 'shocking' to step it up and have a character he knew people loved visibly hang herself just seems cheap and... not right.
I know this sounds petty, hell, you could respond with '#Triggered' and I couldn't even argue against it, but really, the whole situation, especially deleting it right after posting it, really rubs me the wrong way. Way worse than that coma/dream theory ever did.

I see where you're coming fromthough I still think the teaser is just showing Mangle after having kids attack her, not committing suicidebut at the same time I feel like it fits into the theme of the player/audience being blamed or pointed out as the perpetrator regardless of guilt. "See what you've all done?" "Save them/you can't" etc. It has always been a common theme that the characters suffer and the player can do little to change that.
That said, it is kind of weird and out of place. I suppose we need to wait for clarification before assuming anything. I would love if the game did a reverse of things like Earthbound, if it started out creepy and strange and depressing and then evolved into cutesy and happy. As a sort of analogy to Scott's development or something.

Personally, I'm sincerely hyped for the first time in a long while. It was a strange action, in poor taste, with a cute little thing killing itself, and if FNaF World was going to have a dark twist, it spoiled it.

Naw, while I do have far more anon history than most OC fags here that I'm aware of (been making OC by name well before /vp/ was made) I will be the first to admit I'm very soft when it comes to characters I'm attached to. Was with Persona, was with /mlp/, was with Silent Hill (namely 2-3), was with Mystery Dungeon, hell, even some of the threads and characters made in /tg/ and /d/ I got far too soft for. That's just me in general.

That's what makes me uneasy, this is not how Scott operates, this is the kind of shit Scott used to vaguely bring up in interviews about back when he was suicidal-considering depressed, and that something prompted him to draw an in-depth image of his cutest character that he previously drew playing with a paddle ball toy hanging herself, well, it rubs me wrong. If it excites you or hypes you up, that's fine, I'm not telling other people to not be excited. It IS shocking.
But for me personally, just out of what is almost certainly unwarranted concern over nothing, I don't like it, it makes me extremely uncomfortable and not in the way horror should. I'll still keep tabs on it and still play it of course, but I can't help how I feel, and I really don't care for the hung Mangle then deleting it really fast to a screen of darkness thing.

I wouldn't really worry about him from the tone of it. FNAF's kept at least two feet out of the dark and the Freudian side of things so I don't think Scott, who's seemingly pretty happy now that he can reliably put food on the table, is having a relapse right now. If he did, I think he'd feel a bit more confident in seeking help.
