what's really sad is the disparity between the popularity of asura in dfog and dnf
asura is nowhere near as popular is a dnf because they never got the awkward patch progression we got
asura second awakening came with a lot of reworks that we had when the client launched
the elemental waves generating brands, wave rad generating brands, cancelling enticer into quaker as well as several damage boosts across the board came with asura seconds in korea
ice wave used to be pure dogshit until like 45+ before that rework fixed it at 15 spikes at level 1
it used to shoot out like two icicles when you got it, cast slow as molasses and had less reach than nws
and it didn't have double damage on frozen enemies either
and that's ignoring the insane damage increases across the board
in korea you didn't get any of that until slayers and fighters got their seconds
and while asura got a boost and shot up in tiers, the general impression wasn't "wow asura is op", the mood was more of "wow second awakenings will fix my class too!" so rather than hopping on the asura bandwagon people just waited it out and the dead asura population didn't really increase all that much
that and zerker was much better than asura right after his second
blood evil was so good originally that he even went above crusader in the pve tiers for a few weeks because he hit damage caps without any sader buffs
and then got promptly nerfed into the ground because nothing can be better than a sader

Hell Rework removes blue drops from the Hell drop pool and replaces them with Epic Fragments. You get a certain amount of fragments per Hell depending on difficulty. Slayer, a difficulty which really is VERY hard, gives you 10. Ultimate gives you 8, I believe.
The Fragments can be used, when you accumulate 1000, to craft an Epic. Unfortunately, there are different fragments for every Epic, so you need 1000 Balmung Fragments to get Balmung. There are about 310 Epics in the game in kDnF, which means that you basically need to do 310*1000/10 = 31000 hells to get enough frags for an Epic, since they aren't biased to anything you can use. I think they are biased towards lower-level stuff, though.
I can't remember if it's just weapons or not. If it is, that basically halves the number of runs you'd need. In the end, it doesn't matter, because even 15000 Hells is statistically enough time to have randomly dropped every Epic in the game at least once.
That's without mentioning that, when you have the Epic frags, it costs an arm and a leg to craft.
In short, the system is worthless, it makes Hells much more expensive since you can't sell/grind your drops, and it only helps out the sort of person who is unlucky enough to not have gotten their Epic by THAT MANY Hells.
